Its bad enough that they can still blow out limbs with a toz from that distance but seeing through things they shouldn't be able to is getting old fast. It has also been mentioned many times by Nikita himself that they are always working on improvements and they have the same frustrations as us. If you even had a tiny understanding of how difficult it is to code AI in a game like this, you would realise how good they actually are. The main problem of the scavs resides in their own program. Actually the scavs aren't sentient or function on their own but function using hit-scan. What does that mean exactly ? That as soon as you spawn they know you are on the map and know where you are, they react only according to scripts and some actions that you will do will trigger pre-determined responses from them. One of the second downside of such architecture is that they rely heavily on aimbot and are programmed to shoot certain parts of your body firstwith a certain amount of accuracy (ex: before 0.11, regular scavs had a high chance of shooting you in the head first, BSG changed their values and now they can't shoot you in the head anymore but rather aim for the limbs). So in the end, trying to fix the scavs is like trying to fix a swiss swatch, everything has to be coded and scripted (distance of vision, time of reaction, accuracy of their shooting, part of the body they will shoot first, sensibility to noises and gunshots, ect ...) and THIS is way more complicated to balance because a simple change of value can turn braindead scavs to terminator juggernaut. And so what if its in beta, its been in beta for years and in the current state the scavs are as deadly as raiders except with garbage stock weapons. Just got double tapped by a shotgun from 50 yards as he came into my view. It feels like with every major patch its 1 step forward and 2 steps back.
