PJCPlays
I picked up Tarkov in December and found it to be super promising. It's punishing, fun, and intense. The double down that happened on BSG's sexist/misogynistic view of playable women characters is massively disappointing despite feeling very typical of this kind of developer. Citing "lore reasons" is extremely ridiculous. Russian women were some of the fiercest soldiers in WWII. There are plenty of women employed by PMCs and military organizations around the world. To suggest that there's some kind of applicable lore reason for why women don't fight in Tarkov is backwards and absurd, and makes the whole of BSG look like bad writers and world builders. Citing how difficult it would be technically is also a joke. If you're asking people to pay you $40 for access to your game and you aren't competent enough to add playable female characters - something every game from PUBG to Call of Duty solved very early in development - I definitely regret forking over my money just based on incompetence. I probably won't be dropping back in on this thread because I'm sure I'll just get harassed and attacked for this saying all of this, but the statements made on Twitter yesterday are totally bogus. I really do hope that as a team BSG takes a hard look at these stances and understands how bad they look to people outside of the bubble of misogyny that military shooters often exist in. 2 1
ShiroTenshi
Ultimately, it is up to the DEVs to make a choice on what they include in the game they are developing. The decision to not include female characters is not something new, and has been discussed many times before. Just because someone suddenly digs up an old article that may or may not be misinterpreted does not change this. In fact, if instead of believing random strangers in the internet you took the time to do some actual reading on what the DEVs have said in the past years you would realize that article is the only one that claims to have had the DEVs say this (and from someone whose first language isn't English which could mean that it's just as likely the supposed interviewer just didn't understand what was being conveyed) . If it's true or not i don't know. But i do know that from the MANY statements so far made by the DEVs this is the first time i've even heard or read this article or it's contents. All the info is available to those who are willing to think for themselves instead of being told what to think. Now please do not start drama post int he Forum, as that is against the rules. #locked 1
