Servers Down? New player help

So I jumped into my SCAV and walked through the map for about a minute? Then I got disconnected from server, tried to reconnect 5 times and got "couldn't connect to server" each time before even loading in.  On the sixth reconnect attempt I hit the yes leave match button, the game immediately kicked me out to the loading screen with the tree branch and then just sat their forever (the little circle was spinning in the bottom right) I had to alt-f4 out of the game.  Now when i start the game it goes to the same screen gives me a Unable to reconnect message with little emoji guy shrugging and sits at the tree screen forever.   

Every time I load now it just goes to that screen.   Is that standard server-down behavior?  Am I locked out forever now?

Yes, servers are definitely down at this moment.

Yes my friend, the servers are down again.  Lets hope they get it sorted fast.
