and you get shot at by a player scav.

and you kill that player scav in self defense,

the other AI scavs are still going to shoot you on sight?

I think so. If the player scav had already killed another scav, they wont though.

I'm not really sure what kind of mechanics they could implement to fix that.

No, if he shots at you and hits you, the scav will protect you, if you hit him first, they will protect him

Before yesterday, I was at factory on customs, as a scav, and another scav player saw me and started shooting at me that got me bleeding and some fractures, but i manage to kill him as he ran out of bullets. After that, I walked near some bots and they didnt shoot at all, so, if you get hit, you can absolutely hit back.
