Is armor even worth it?

Iv lost over 200000R today in armor alone to scavs, not even player scavs.  I know sometimes they will have armor piercing rounds and the scav that 3 shot me with the AK I understand but even the best AP rounds for handguns are supposed to take 4 or 5 shots, and 3 of these kills were scavs with handguns one and two shooting me in the thorax when I have lvl 3 and 4 armor on. Is the armor not working or are the scavs getting super good rng with armor breaking?

is your armor at full repair? bc if it isnt it will only act like a lower class armor when u wear it. also unless your wearing a lev 5 + helm and mask headshots will instakill u

Yup, 80/80 dura and a lvl 4 helmet with a lvl 3 face shield. 
my issue is these shots that hit me we’re thorax shots, which is what’s protected by my armor.

Personally this has never happened to me, so you might just be VERY unlucky. are they covering your thorax fully or are there gaps near your neck like an AVS rig?

Unlucky is one of many terms of the like that describe me. Cant remember the specific model number of armor but it was lvl 4 and tan.
