Than 5 minutes you need to stahp. Back out and try again. Sometimes I find resetting my game helps. It usually tries to connect me to a different server and I get in fairly quickly. Just food for thought guys. You're shooting yourself in the foot if you're letting that timer run up.

Its hard to know exactly how their matchmaking works, but typically in queues it pays to be patient.
Imagine queuing up for a ticket to a movie, but you cant tell your place in the queue or if the worker has gone to for a smoke, and after you wait 5 mins you decide to leave the queue and rejoin it at the back. Maybe you were next in line or close to it.

If you dont care what map you play then changing maps can work, but I usually kit up with a raid in mind and a quest or specific farm in mind. And changing servers isnt much of an option when the lowest alt is 140ping.

But when the game is having trouble I just go play something else.
