Learning EFT (POV)

Recently came back to EFT after leaving and uninstalling because I played a handful of matches, died and left never to return until the quarantine hit.

So, basically back to square one I decided to first look up guides, learn ex-fils etc. (since all the cool youtubers do it) then hopped into an offline raid, over and over I'd get my ass beat by scavs but just kept going and I feel as though for many people with a negative outlook on the game this is the most challenging part, the steep learning curve. The game, at no point holds your hand, this game is your alcoholic step-father who beats you relentlessly and your mother is too afraid to step in and help you but you persevere and make it out as a better person in the end.

Then came my first proper raid, geared with my trusty Soviet-Era weapons and armour I went upon my quest to just make it out alive, Tl;dr I died, managed to pick off 2 scavs and while I was looting I was killed by a PMC with a swift shot to the head, many more attempts later I started to survive, even had a streak going and half mil in my bank (or about 0.47 GBP in Rubles)

I still know next to nothing about the game but because I decided to learn how to play I no longer regret the purchase nor fear playing the game as every death to me helps me learn more. I stick to hard cover whenever I can, pick my fights well, learned how to control the basic Tier I Prapor weapons and overall having a sense of understanding of how to play even if it is as primitive as it is, it makes me feel like I've accomplished part of a much more grand adventure.

I'll post to this thread more as I'll continue to play.

Also if the first line sums up your EFT experience, all I can say is keep trying, watch people play, adapt their play style to your own, the game has limitless possibilities and even if you are bad at first a few hours will result in you not being as bad as before.

if every new player treat the game like this i would have a way harder time getting kills :)

Went and got an AK-74 and modded it with a suppressor, bastion dust cover, rubber butt pad and a red dot. Now I'm too afraid to actually go into a raid in case I get killed and lose 100k worth of attachments as well as an Uley armoured rig and my helmet, I feel as though I'm not the only new player who feels like this so I'll give advice that I ended up doing.

Buy the same gun, don't mod it at all just get good ammunition to be able to fight back, some cheap armour and rig (even a scav vest) and go, go forth and practice in a non-offline raid and see how you do.

Keep doing it over and over until you feel confident enough to be able to use your expensive gun, even if it means you end up at 0 rubles do scav raids for money just don't stop playing or you'll most likely forget everything you've learned, using this strat I've actually boosted my survival rate by 7% (now at 52%) as well as my K/d although most of my kills are scavs.

I'm not ready to use my pride and joy setup yet however when I am I'll make sure to post about my experience.

And remember, you may be terrible at fps games but as long as you think before you move you'll be fine, as happened to me when I outflanked a guy on woods next to the UN exit with my kedr while he had an SKS.

So 3 days since I came back, here's what I've learned:

Ammunition - It doesn't matter what gun you have or how big your clip is, if your opponent has ammunition that is superior to yours and can easily penetrate your armour then you are going to die. Ammunition is more important than the gun.

Alertness - Doesn't matter how safe you think you are even if you have dropped 3 scavs on your way to the RUAF roadblock, there is still a chance there's a bush camper waiting for you in the elbow. Always remain alert.

Inventory Management / Overall Preparedness - Use any time you have between fights to refill magazines, heal up or if you have it, using a CMS kit on blacked out limbs.

During a fight make sure to pop a painkiller prior to or after being shot when you can as it'll make further damage easier to handle.

Aim for the head, always try to shoot your opponent in the head as even if you unload a 30 round mag while hovering around their head you have a at least a 1/30 to kill them instantly.

Learn the market for item prices - Even if you die but say you have a gauge in your container, that's 60,000 Rubles you've just made, make sure you know item values before you prioritise them over others.

SCAV RUNS - it is very important that as a new player you utilise Scav runs, it allows you to play without worry and allows you to get used to how different guns work as well as every now and then making a lot of money.

Pick your fights - If you see your opponent before they see you evaluate what they're wearing, a good thing to watch for here is '' are they bulky?''' ''Does their helmet have a visor?'' ''What gun is that?'' ''Is there more than one?'' Asking yourself these questions before a firefight can be the difference between dying and surviving, just because you can doesn't mean you should.
