SVD Bugged? Need help

Hi everyone,

I've looked around a bit and saw others with the same issue but I couldn't find a solid answer so here is my post in hope someone can assist me.

I'm trying to do the Punisher 6 quest where I have to kill 15 pmc with an SVD. I wasted about 8 million on svds, gears and ammos to only get 9 kills so far.

The problem is I keep getting killed with one bullet while I manage a few times to get 3-5 rounds in people (even nakeds without armor) to only do about 300 dmg and not killing them. I thought the SVD was shooting the biggest and strongest ammo in the game?

Now if you ask me which ammo I use, I tried them all. 7N1, SNB, LPS GZH even 7N37 (most expensive) and surprisingly the most expensive ones (7N1 and 7N37) is with which I got 5 rounds without killing people with no armor on... What am I doing wrong?

I tried full gear, altyn with visor and lvl 6 armor and still got one shotted and missed 3 rounds point blank that I swear was on the guy

I only play on the servers with the best ping (under 30)

I tried every rat strats, like camping the exit but the best I can do is put 5 rounds in someone not killing them and getting one or two shot dead again.

I swear the 9 kills I got so far felt very lucky, it seems only headshots works, sometimes.

I never one tap or two tap any body in the chest like some say the SVD does, again, I had at least 3 instances where I had put 5 rounds in a naked dude without killing them (360 dmg is the most I got in those unreal thicc skin tanks)

My pc can run VR games just fine but I'm not sure this game is syncing properly... My fire fights are rarely as smooth as you see on the streams and I don't have any of these issues with any other fps game (pubg, rust, warzone, RoE, cs, valorant, warface, fortnite etc etc)

EDIT. FYI I have been at this quest for a while, it's probably me but I'd like to know where/what I'm doing wrong. I just don't know if I had as much trouble with other guns/ammos or even maps. I've been trying to no scope in factory as I've seen recommended for this quest, it works very well in offline or even online versus scavs (and they die with 1 or 2 tap almost all the time) but pmc's and player scavs are def not counting hits the same way as AI scavs

Any suggestions/help are very welcome...

Hey there Beast, I'm not sure how much help I can be at solving the issue because I have had some bullet registration issues the past week or so but, I can tell you that if you are going to use an SVD I would not advise using 7N37 or SNB if you are going for one shot anywhere besides the head. These rounds do not do a ton of damage (but their pen is insane so it is difficult to kill an unarmored target unless you get that headshot). At least I have issues with it. Here are some stats on different ammo types so you can decide which round would fit best (7N1 is my round of choice): https://escapefromtarkov.gamepedia.com/Ballistics

Otherwise, just don't give up my friend. The game can turn around in a single day and you might be stacking up kills. Hopefully someone else can give you another tip or two to help fix this issue.

Best of luck.

I can assure you the weapon is not bugged, at least not for me. If you have bought quite a few SVD's yourself, I doubt the weapon is bugged also. Are you sure all your shots are hitting? The SVD recoil is kinda crazy and 7N1 is the ammo to go for in terms of efficiency/price as it can kill a hatchling with one tap to the thorax and anyone with good armor with two to four shots to the chest.

Factory is also the map you might wanna do this quest, there's a high chance of finding low gear players/hatchlings every now and then. Other than that I am not sure what we can help you with, doesn't really sound like a bug, but if you really think it is a bug then by all means try to record your gameplay and report it through the game launcher.

Thanks for the replies brothers.

It's exactly what I'm doing, factory and I used 7N1 most of the time. Twice I rush another spawn, see a hatchling, put 5 rounds in him and die by less amount of bullets. I swear at least one of those I had 7N1. Another time later in the raid but it was the only guy I fought, again 5 rounds in and no kill. Not only i'm pretty convinced the rounds are in but the end / score board confirmed me on multiple occasions, 5 hits, single encounter,  up to 200-360 hp dmg no armor dmg and no kill  A bunch of times I put 3-4 bullets in while camping like a desperado to no kill again. I must be shooting off their toe nails or something... The scavs tho. I can easily kill 15+ per game but pmcs and player scav are something else...

Sorry im not sure how I got the text highlighted lol, on mobile phone with big thumbs 🤔

Sleepyyy Edit: I took the highlight off your text ;)

I have 6 more kills to make so I will try to record the next games I play, later on, at this rate it will probably happen again.

Good luck, hopefully it works out better for you and was just a string of bad luck.

The ammo and the prices they say it works needs to be looked at for sure ..M80 rounds 1 tapping level4 gear and m61 round single tapping through kills armour .Just keep at it and you’ll eventually come out ahead

Thanks bud, I know some nights I get a buttload of pmc kills where others I just die at most encounter however this one task seems way harder than it looks like. I think you shouldn't need over 5 hits with an svd to kill anybody and that they should use pistol for last punisher quest instead, like easiest to harder weapons instead of the other way around and nerfing good guns, at least this is the sentiment I have at the moment.

Agreed, I also have a feeling I had it easier with M80 rounds versus 7N1 and M80 are cheap 7.62x51 while 7N1 is expensive larger ammo 7.62x54.... I probably need to do some online course about ammunations and/or study that chart posted up here

For the record, I managed to do the last 6 kills, but most of them, if not all, were headshots to be fair... those only took one hit for most. Turning on PostFX and tweaking it a bit really helped at that I think, at least in factory map. However I still had a case where I had put 5 bullets in a player, killed him but that last bullet was a headshot ... any way I will try to find the video among the recordings I have done and post it up here. I mean the bullet is freaking huge and leave even bigger holes but I guess in Russia they just eat them for breakfast :D

Here is the video I'm talking about, camped 20 minutes at an exit to kill a player scav (no armor) with 5 rounds where the last one is a headshot (Go to 19:00 to skip the camping)

This one is a different raid / end screen but this one I forgot to record the fight and the last 30s record is only the loading screen however I only fought one guy during that raid and 5 hits didn't take him down, he did have an armor as you can see tho, but I did use 7N1 all the way last night, you can take my word or not for it I guess lol

Glad to hear you got it completed! Hopefully next time you have to do the quest it won't give you such trouble. Though, headshots are key most of the time. That and maybe next time you get to it, it will be long before wipe so you have a little less tanks to deal with. On to the next quest.

Thanks man, been playing since Feb / March so it is my first wipe, kinda sucks that I won't enjoy the epsilon pouch for long but in the other hand a clean wipe and starting all over with everyone at the same time is cool too. I hesitant buying the EoD upgrade tho, kinda remove a bit of the purpose of doing the quests since that is the biggest reward that I can see so far. Although I've been strongly advised to buy it by someone else in game I've been messaging with, we'll see I guess - What is your take on that? I see that you do have EoD

That does kinda suck but, you will have all wipe next time to get through everything and enjoy it all as long as you don't wait too long.

As for EOD, I can see most peoples point of view when it comes to this. I bought EOD right away so I never played with the other versions. However, if you want my opinion there is PLENTY to work on in EFT. Sure, you won't be grinding out those larger containers and you start with max stash but you still have the whole hideout to do (besides stash), you still have plenty of reason to quest (level, rewards, and trader rep), you start out with some guns but it's not so much to where you are like "this is too easy" you still can get slapped like everyone else. I never really run out of things to do. When I'm done with my upgrades and quests (which takes a long time because of level locking) it's just as much fun to go hunting. Going out with the heavy stuff you have earned and just hunt for PMCs because you can. That's not including other benefits like instant access to DLC's in the future, the shiny tag, ect haha. I would say it's worth it, you won't run out of things to do too quickly (especially because of the Kappa container) so I think it's a worth buy (you can also reset at any time if you get too bored). EOD is more of a start at full sprint over a walk.. but it does not save you, just helps.

EDIT: Yes it does make maxing out traders easier but you still have to meet the level requirements to max them and this can take quite a while (especially if you don't quest) You can get massive rewards from questing (including a Thicc items case).

Ah I didn't know there was a thicc items case as a reward at one point. I didn't do much quests at start but figured quickly it's very good to do them and I do agree there is plenty to do and EoD save some of the hassle so you can focus on other things... I have to figure it out quickly as I think there's a one day sale? Or I might buy a friend a starter edition so that I can start playing with teamates instead of going solo all the time lol

Haha yeah, questing can be a great thing (a pain at times) but worth it once it's all done. Especially if you start early and get them done as your level allows. I understand not wanting to play solo haha. I actually prefer solo but I know a few people who don't do less than 4 people at all times. It's wild. In regard to the sale, here you go:
