DasBull
I have my settings set to pick "best servers" and I still get paired with servers around 180 ping and get kicked, and lose my gear. Additionally there's no way in hell I can play with my buds back home (I am currently stationed overseas). Am I just to accept I can no longer run with my crew? Is this even necessary? I'm much more pissed than the tone of this query entails. I love this game so far, and it sucks enormous ass that I can't play with my friends. At any rate, can anyone educate me on why this policy exists?... Thanks ya'll.

At any rate, can anyone educate me on why this policy exists?... Thanks ya'll. Hey, I'll try and explain it briefly. High Ping is a problem in multiple ways. 1. Chinese / Asian Regions - Asian regions are crazy-filled with hackers in most games, this rings mostly true for the Chinese. It's very unfortunate, as hacking isn't seen as an unfair thing to do over there, as well as it being a way to earn money through RMT (Real Money Trade) markets for stuff in-game. EFT doesn't have region locks, so chinese players can theoretically play anywhere they want, however by limiting ping, this stops them from being able to access European and Eastern Coast US servers for the most part. I didn't have a single dodgy raid until yesterday when I played on a Western Coast server with some friends (I myself am in the UK), and as soon as we spawned we got fully hacked on across the map in Interchange. 2. Peeker's advantages - Even if you forget about hackers, ping differences still mean small time-differences in raids between players. Those with higher ping have a delay between what they do and what the server sees and outputs for every other player to see. So, if you have a ping of 50, and an enemy player a ping of 200, they can peek a corner, see you, start shooting, before the server even relays the information that they've peeked, you'll already be dead. And so those abusing high ping can essentially gain the advantage of being around the corner earlier than you will know/be told by the servers about. The lowering of ping is an issue in some senses, for sure. I play mostly with NA people and am in the UK myself, luckily if we get someone on the East Coast servers to host, I can have my ping within the 75-120 range. But for others, and a lot of people in a lot of regions, their nearest server might be too high of a ping anyway, and to play with people even worse. I don't think it's unfair to limit ping, as allowing it means leaving it open to abuse beyond anyone's control, and ping is not something anyone can lower, that's our physical internet framework around the global and satellites that currently limits us. Once people use SpaceX's Starlink maybe we'll see improvements, and more Chinese hackers ruining things. Not a simple problem that's for sure.

Hey man, I really appreciate the time you took answering my question. I can see now that it's not a simple issue that requires a certain level of regional sacrifice which is shitty, but yeah, necessary with the tools we have. It'd be cool if folks would play the game honestly but that's the world we live in. Thanks again man, cheers. I agree with you, but remember point "2.Peeker's advantages" is that if the high ping guy his holding a corner and a low ping guy peeks. The low ping guy gets the advantage. it works in the HIgh ping person's advantage and disadvantage
