Hack or possible bug?

Was just on customs and was killed by as far as I can tell nothing. No gun shots, no other player, just all of a sudden took chest damage, then my arm was blacked out, then I was dead. This happened to me twice before the patch, both times on customs. All 3 times happened late in the match. All 3 times I was reasonably sure there were no players nearby and I heard no shooting, foot steps, nothing, just took random damage and died. There might have been a 4th time as well on Interchange. No gun shot, no footstep just insta-killed in an obscure corner of the parking garage. Anyone else have similar experience? Is this a sound bug that is known about? Or is this a fun new way for hackers to duck up the game?

It usually either means that you were desynced or they were. Theres also a chance they were using subsonic rounds with a silencer and you just couldn't hear anything.

Probably desynced then, I initially ruled it out because I was able to kill another player, a scav, and continue to loot stuff with no problems up until i got killed by seemingly nothing. I just figured if another player was desynced they wouldn't be able to see/interact with me. The two times it happened to me I couldn't interact with anyone and couldn't pick anything up.

Desync is weird and its always hard to tell who it's effecting. The worst part is that sometimes it happens when you arent even in the middle of a firefight and you don't know you're desynced till you're dead. The best solution is to just be sure you have auto server slection on.
