Dear Escapers!

Before the Streets of Tarkov presentation at PC GAMING SHOW Nikita Buyanov gave a short interview at Game Mania channel, it was in Russian, below you can find a short summary of this interview translated by SneakyRU (https://www.twitch.tv/sneakyru007).

Enjoy!

  • 2 patches are planned in the near future (12.6.2 + 12.7)
  • New Really cool Prapor quest in 12.6.2 and 12.7 will most likely contain the first grenade launcher
  • This grenade launcher will be the most basic of them not a thermobaric grenade launcher aimed at destroying building
  • Will Tarkov ever come to console? Yes its planned. In very active conversations happening on that front
  • Drops was a combined promotional effort (lots of things fell into place at the right time) patch, wipe, sales and drops. the game was in a really good state at the time and with new stuff added and fixes made there was an opportunity for promotion.
  • Most popular game regions: USA, China, Germany, France, Spain, Russia

  • One Big Unified map - still planned and is something BSG are working towards. The game world in general is already one big location which BSG work on all the time, most of the key locations are already placed correctly in terms of distance in the used space.
  • Maps will be stitched together when BSG get more experienced and have less trouble using Unity.
  • "Multi raids" or raids where you have to enter on one location (eg. Streets to labs or Factory to labs) Customs to Reserv from Reserv to Shoreline
  • There may a game mode where you there will be minimal menus and most of your play time will be spent in game (similar to Left for Dead campaigns)
  • Similar to the way Stalker maps were stiched together - yes.
  • Stitching locations together is something that is fairly easy to do but making one big location is substantially harder.

  • A new location will be introduced which will be offline as a "tutorial" which will contain about 20% of the basics. the other 80% you will have to explore and find.
  • Adding advanced new features such as prone leaning will not be in the tutorial. (playing dead)

  • Steam audio - does it give you an advantage - not sure. In first tests there was nothing that they noticed which gave players a significant advantage.
  • Until steam audio is properly patched in BSG will leave the option to turn it on and off.

  • With the wipe came a lot of cheaters and they are being banned all the time with the use of different techniques.
  • If there is anyone out there watching who specialises in catching cheaters - its time to speak up and talk to us about it.
  • The worst thing about this is when normal players think we are not doing anything about it. - Beacuse of cheaters we have to divert manpower to catching cheaters and building the game.

everything look fine but, "Will Tarkov ever come to console? Yes its planned. In very active conversations happening on that front" NO, just a big NO! first of all finish this game on PC before you start to dream about more money on console players, second, this game you can't play with a controller and poo hardware, focuss on the important things not on some exclusive plebs

Love to see a small team trawling the streaming sites for the players cheating and just match the names of the squad members then collect more info on them KDR, accuracy and account value overtime maybe flag their account for view by BattleEye then ban them when they find the cheat.

I feel like its pretty obvious that it wont be anytime soon, they just said it is planned, Nonetheless, it is crazy to me that they plan on bringing tarkov to console

Yeah.... no.

This will probably never happen, because there are technical limitations with Unity that will make it close to impossible to do this with the standard engine. Large maps in Unity are so bad performance wise that you need a custom map streaming engine, because whatever is out there plain doesnt really work.

There is a good discussion here that leads to some ressources if the devs really want to do this.

https://forum.unity.com/threads/creating-big-multi-tile-maps-with-streaming-new-veg-tools-etc.539853/

The bottomline:

OPEN WORLDS WITH MAP STREAMING CANNOT BE DONE WITH UNITY.

That means you need a source code license and you need to change the Unity engine.

Of course you can.

We will get aim assist, because otherwise the money from console players is out of reach.

I would like to emphasise this even more - to hell with the fuckin consoles, please use that time and efforts to make it better where it is now!

PS. I do not see any sense in playing a game like Tarkov on a platform that is aimed more towards casual gameplay.

That part caught my eye as particularly interesting.

How do you expect there to be someone who "specialises" in catching cheaters? You could train anyone to properly analyze videos and data to find consistency as for who is cheating and who is not, just as much as you could use for example machine learning for it (Valve pulled this off great with VACNet).

If you're aiming for someone who could catch cheaters through code, does that mean you're planning on depreciating BattlEye or perhaps just implementing your own anti-cheat to work alongside with BattlEye?
