BlindDog
Hello Escape From Tarkov is one of the best and challenging online shooters i've played but also it has a horrible questline because most of the quests doesn't make any sense and looks like Achievements / Challenges in other games. Here's my suggestions for the quests I didn't like (not because they're difficult, just because they're silly in my opinion). IMPORTANT: The thread will be updated as soon as I put my thoughts together. I PRAPOR "Debut" Goal: Kill 5 Scavs on Custom, bring 2x MP-133 Shotguns Dialogue: What's up, warrior? What's your interest? Cash? Goods? The right place for both, but who are you and what are you made of? It's the first time I see you and no offense, but I've lived too long to trust people right away, so you'll have to prove how tough you are in the field. There's no shortage of would-be tough guys in our fair town lately, you know. Then we'll see, if you're worth something, greeting might get warmer, prices lower, and stuff cooler. Fair enough, right? Okey-dokey then. Since you agree, for starters, waste, let's say, five deadbeats around the Customs and bring me 2 MP-133 shotguns as proof. My proposition: Since Prapor wants us to prove ourself as worthly warriors why only Customs? Are Scavs on Woods, Shoreline, Reserve or Interchange are less dangerous? I'd change it to Kill 7 Scavs on any map and find 3 MP-133 in raid because it should be a proof. "Shootout Picnic" Goal: Kill 15 Scavs on Woods Dialogue: Alive and well? Atta boy! Not everyone can boast the same nowadays. Apparently, you can handle a thing or two. That's good. You have an idea of tactics, so here is the challenge. Do you know the sawmill area? Some trusted people have matters to attend to in the area, but local scum that, in lack of good sense, think of themselves as masters of the place, keep interfering with them. According to my intel, these dickheads are no more than 15, should not be a problem for a salty war dog, with the right approach. What do you say? My proposition: Since these trusted people have some matters to attend in sawmill area and Scav groups are independent of each other why not to decrease limit of scavs to 7-10 but only in sawmill area which includes: Sawmill, Checkpoint, Sneaky Forest with marked, rocks next to sniper rock and road next to crashed van (this with blood samples for Therapist quest) "Ice Cream Cones" Goal: Find 60-round mags for Prapor Dialogue: Hey there, fighter. Still fighting? Good. There is this job, a trifle, really. Obviously not your caliber, so not a business, but a favor, so to say. There's a package for me, they stashed it in the bunker behind the sawmill. 60-rounds for a fiver. You know, popular product. So, there they've put a lock-up on the grill toward out drifters. Terra Group people used to hang around there in their time, and one of their brass has a copy of the key stored somewhere. He lived somewhere in the dorm by the Factory. So go on and check around. 50% goes to you on return. In fact, if you don't manage it into the bunker, then find them elsewhere - I've got a pressing order. My proposition: If it's a single order, why not to make a package of mags as the single quest item you need to extract? "The Punisher part 1" Goal: Kill 15 Scavs on Shoreline using AKM series. Dialogue: Well then, it's about time we make this world a better place. Shoreline is under increasingly frequent attacks of different bands, seriously interfered with my friends' operations. Help them sort it out and we'll send a handsome reward your way. But there's one more thing, you have to sort this one out using the AKM, my friends should get to see who helped them. My proposition: Since Scavs are messing with Prapor's friend operations on Shoreline why he choosen one of most popular caliber to use as a proof. SKS or Vepr uses pretty much same ammo so how would he know that we killed them, not another Scav or someone else. My idea is to change this to Kill 15 Scavs with any weapon and place a marker in some common scav spawns on Shoreline let's say: Bus Terminal, HEPS building, Pier and Scav Island. "The Punisher part 3" Goal: Kill 25 Scavs on Customs using AKS-74U Dialogue: Hey there, man. Well, my friends are clearly up to something. Last time you dropped some Scavs, they called me almost instantly, and, you know, it seemed like they had a bit of entertainment going on. Making bets, making cash. Long story short, they want you to decimate Scavs again, but this time using good old AKSU. I don't really want to know what kind of show must go on, but they offer some top cash, so, how about it? My proposition: Well... kill 25 Scavs on Customs is challenging enough, also this whole thing with AKS-74U sounds incredibly silly. Are these guys Illuminati or sth? How will they know i used AKS-74U not other 5.45x39mm weapon? I'd change whole dialogue and quest to kill 25 scavs on customs because they're messing with operations. "The Punisher part 4" Goal: Kill 10 Scavs on Woods using 12ga shotguns, Kill 10 PMCs on Shoreline using balaclava and scav vest, give knives to Prapor Dialogue: Hey, your last Scav cutting was off the chain! People keep coming and asking what the heck is going on. Turns out that my friends somehow negotiated with the local authorities - what's left of them anyways - to set up a kind of mercenary fights, like gladiators. Imagine that! We just keep falling back to the Middle Ages with all this poo! In short, for them you are, what's it called... Tester, sort of. Whatever they are coming up with, they reevaluate and adjust according to your actions. Long story short, I don't really understand poo, but they suggest to continue. This time you will have a way more serious enemy, they want you to decimate PMCs. And also, you are supposed to scare off the Scavs - using 12 gauge shotgun. Seems like they're planning to start WW3 none the less, that will intensify scav on scav violence for sure... Are you in? My proposition: This Illuminati guys who set up mercenary fights theme is ridiculous and makes no sense. I like the part with the shotgun however - initiating scav on scav violence by using a 12ga shotguns which is one of the most common scav weapon seems pretty okey for me. But i'd trhow out this maquerade part outta window and say just go and take out 10 PMCs on Shoreline because they're hired by some another company or something. afgan_
I cannot up-vote - because there is apparently a limit, but generally I was making very similar suggestion in my other posts. Indeed some of the quests are not quests a all, they are "challenges". And overall - yes the somebody needs to look into quests requirements with some "common sense", like whenever there is lore or logical aspect why certain challenge is set. My view is that "challenges" are fine, but they should only be required to unlock specific mods, ammo or other goods. Whereas "quests" should be distinct different type of activity, which will increase your trader status and level. The only thing I don't like is the whole FIR non-sense. Instead for the quests of for the challenges all the items should be unique and separate, or there should be no difference where you get the items from - based on type of narrative. Taking for example introduction - I am fine that Prapor requires proof, however not every Scav has MP-133 or we saying that Scav with Vepr, Adar or AK is not qualifying?! That makes no sense... so perhaps scavs should spawn certain unique item whilst you have quest active? I don't know "scav ID or valet". On the flip side - Therapist certainly does not care where you get spark plugs for her car - she wants the car fixed right?! So why FIR nonsense? As well agree on the specific weapon to use - the only determining factor should be caliber, can as well be suppressed or not (that said who will report if the weapon was suppressed if you just killed all witnesses?!
