Extract Campers: A rant from a noob !

Hi all,

So I finally jumped in to Tarkov, and I am absolutely loving it. Almost everything about it so far I find extremely appealing. But that being said, the main gripe I have so far is extract camping teams. I have spent a good amount of time learning the map I have started on ( Interchange ) and I feel I am getting to grips with the game quite well at the moment.

I know I am far from good ( at the moment ) but the fire fights I have been in during my time playing have been fantastic, the map and the ability to disengage and take a new approach it gives is amazing, and I always feel that when I die, it is because that the person who killed me was better than me, better geared than me, being more tactical / made a better play or had a bigger team and I should of bailed. But that being said, getting ripped up from 3 dudes camping an extract, that I find almost impossible to see regardless of the time I take to scout, is just not fun.

Now i know you could technically call that a "better play" , but IMO as new player it is a huge turn off, because it just seems impossible some times if you are low on water and energy to try and reach another extract, and even though I know how to unlock and use the other extracts ( power station etc ) they just do not seem feasible for my to attempt right now.

I am also aware it sounds like I am crying abit ( because I am ) but I have suffered the loss of items and gear through normal firefights and being jumped and i find pretty ducking cool and exhilarating, but getting one tapped at an extract just feels.....cheesy. I also know I need to get grenades and learn to fire at the places people will camp regardless of if i see them or not, but I just wanted to express my genuine hatred for extraction campers already and how they could be kind of a big issue for noobs, just feels like the equivalent of spawn camping in other games

I am also aware there are many maps and many extracts and I am still very early into my time playing this game, but that just makes this issue feel even bigger to me. I think not being able to sit in a certain area around extracts could be a good idea

these things beeing said you know yourself what to change in your playstyle to avoid getting killed by extract campers, not talking about taking 10 grenades to prenade random spots

but to start some real talk, im playing slow, relying on my ears and eyes, killing scavs and fighting for quest/loot spots from good locations, most of the time i wont struggle finding hydration/energy - but even then i use painkillers and heal myself up going for the "safest" extract possible, but also most of the time my raids take so long that i extract with around 5 mins left (and yes sometimes i wait a bit for extract campers to leave their spot as we all know they are commonly trash players and even in a full squad dogfood)

so how to play but also take so much time while getting decent profit? - only run if youre super open field, try to loot everything you find but clear the area first, wait some seconds every know and then (look around and refocus), take your time after a kill (if i feel like someone had a mate, maybe some more steps or whatever i gladly wait 10 minutes aiming the corpse ), try to spot shots in your "mental map" what could have happened there, is it worth going there or maybe to a location they probably move to (comes with experience aswell, but tracking noises is pmcs daily bread), and of course knowing the map - lastly...what would random extract camper group do, probably wait till 8 and then rush to their extract, or if they are a bit smart they rushed to their extracts when the game started so they will probably move at 5-3 (but even at these times most people ask what a pmc is doing still in a raid) - as mentioned they are mostly extremely bad not understanding the game (just imagine you camp a spot for 40 minutes and you dont see anyone but you repeat that without any adaptation )

also we all died against extract campers already

Something i never see in responses is the following few things:

It could be that they happen to extract at the same time as you, perhaps they killed killa and one of them needed the helmet for the quest, so they didn't want to risk staying in the raid longe then needed.

It is possible they heard/saw you, and followed you, can happen if one of them has a long range scope and spotted you, and especially a team often goes a bit more agressive on solo players if they know you are solo.

Maybe they were looting around the extract, interchange has a lot of underground stashes very close to the extracts, which often have quite valuable loot, which circles back to number one a little bit. What if they just found a streamer item that is extremely rare and they really don't want to risk losing it.

Interchange is the easiest map to run into other people at extracts, because there are only 2 available ( "no backpack" one doesn't get used TOO often )

I rarely come across actual extract campers, and i don't think i ever saw an extract camping team except on maybe factory.

With the risk of losing their precious gear gear people stoop to lows you wouldn’t even think possible man. It just comes with the territory of playing this game.
