xDoZeRx
I feel like headphones should be rare items. being able to hear thru walls and floors for only 20k is honestly kinda dumb and is honestly ruining the game.
Basvision_JFK
Can you elaborate why you think this is "ruining" the game? As you said yourself, it is only 20K so it is not impossible for most players to afford it, and have a "level playing field" - I don't want to front your Post, i am just curious
xDoZeRx
It takes away the element of surprise. and with the new audio you can hear everything through floors and walls. people drinking or eating you can hear through walls i get that you can with headphones but i remember a time in tarkov where headphones were valuable

It does not take away the element of surprise. It just amplifies sound that already exists. If you're a sneeki breeki they won't hear you even if you are next to them, if the conditions allow it. ie. walking on a hard surface, being light, not hitting bushes, not making sharp turns, not ducking about with your gun (ads, fire modes, mag check). I definitely agree with what is said here, in Escape From Tarkov you have different play-style capabilities depending on your situation at hand. You have to fully understand the movements you need to make to make the best play possible for your situation. Maybe looking into some guides via the Wiki, Youtube, and even google can better help you understand how audio works in EFT. I think headphones are fine how they are, but what should change about them if they do change? Maybe make the audio a little more distorted? Maybe adjust the range at which you can hear? Maybe modify the rarity of them like you stated? Its good to think about what can adjust and change rather than it being a factor that is ruining the game. This might be 2 different things. The headphones themselves are ok but the sound system is buggy and needs a rework. Hearing through walls and floors is clearly a fault. A nice example is the bunker in reserve, you can hear people in the bushes above you. Even the bushes themselves are badly optimized regarding their sound. Sometimes, the sound is played when you not touching it or only some leaves. Furthermore, there is only one sound sample, whether what you are touching, a bush, a dry shrub, a hedge or a conifer. Same for stepping on some kind of wood. One sound sample for dry planks, fallen trees or roots. Lots of the environmental sounds are way too loud. There are more flaws of the sounds that players make or don´t make. The current implementation of the sound is far away from being good. ferguswag
Depending on the infrastructure I don't think it is that reasonable to hear people that are above you... especially if they are a thicc boi.
