Just why? camping the "Checking" task truck

I'll start off by saying that Im pretty new to this game, lucky if I have like 20 hours in it so far.
But now to the topic at hand. My question is why. Why do people camp the construction yard in the customs map especially near the task truck.

I have been trying to complete the second task for Prapor "Checking" and its just brutal.
I have tried at least 12 times now and every time I get remotely close to that truck that has the watch in it, I get shot.
I've tried sneaking. I've tried sprinting at it, I've even tried doing a night run or two but theres always someone with night vision that gets me before I get close.

is it luck? am I doing something wrong? Do I need a team of friends to complete the second task of the game?

This probably looks like a rage post and to an extent it kinda is. Im just loosing the will to live over here, Im enjoying the game but I just cant progress at all.
Any tips or tricks?

You could try waiting out the timer before going for the task. Like waiting until about 10 min or so left? If you have already tried it then I would say to just keep trying you'll eventually get it and have been unlucky.  Having friends to play with is really helpful to do quests as well.

Like @Sirposh55 said, just wait until there's only 10 minutes left, at night if possible, and you should be fine. Around the 10 minute mark, most of pmc's are gone and night-time isn't the best time for scav runs either.

1. Most quest on customs share the same area.

-This is mostly due to poor quest design. As most early quest take place on customs.

2. Most people at this point in the wipe are trying to get scav kills or raid the dorms on customs.

-The construction yard and surrounding area is a go to location for killing scavs. That said, keep in mind that some will wait in this area for scavs to respawn. I recommend rushing the area (if you spawn close) grabbing the item and hiding for about 10 minutes.

3. Game is about more than luck.

- Luck plays an important part, but so does the time of day, the sever you play on and the tactics you use. I hate to say, no matter how good you are, luck plays a large role.

Recommendations

1. Use a kit that is cheap and unlikely to be taken.

- Shotguns and VPOs are great example. No armor is an option.

2. Wait till near the end of the raid or if you have a close spawn rush and then hide.

-A bush is not a hiding spot, you need solid cover to be protected.

Keep playing the map. Eventually you will begin to see patterns to where people are and when.

if you get a close spawn to that truck for instance you know you can get there and get out before anyone else could possibly be in the area.

all this information comes with time and many many deaths. There’s really no short cutting it.

You can speed the process by watching videos of the map where people explain pmc spawns and extractions.

Thanks for the tips guys.
I'll try hiding until the raids nearly over next time.

Personally if I got some really good stuff I'll wait until the last possible minute.

Which I do not recommend until you got the timers/distance down.

Campers are usually gone by the last 10 minutes but when on the map pay attention to the gunshot sounds especially the distant ones toward the exits. That is your warning.

I'll usually hide somewhere roughly 3 minute run away and wait for the 5 min mark and go for it if I got something really nice. Otherwise I want out earlier to make another attempt.
