Quests w specialist equipment suck.

Here's some feedback for your beta:

Quests that require purposefully sub-optimal items - like wearing a 3M armor vest to kill 30 Scavs in Interchange - are really terrible and here is why.

  • the quests exist to be completed. If the quest is so bad that the "solution" is to skip it, then that is de facto evidence the quest is terrible.
  • There is no reason to wear the 3M armor - ever - under any circumstance. It exists solely to be a "bad" choice for the player to avoid and to high-lite Scavs in the environment. The quest forces the player to use it - and other quests requiring specialist (re: UNTAR) gear are artificial "hard modes".
  • Lastly, it depends on the RNG of Scav spawns and a race to kill them before you're super-visual PMC is killed by other PMCs.

On that last point, I have gone FOUR Interchange raids where I've either gone the ENTIRE RAID without seeing a single live Scav - or speeding through multiple Scav spawn areas with no Scav spawns before being killed by a PMC.

  • Under Oli, under IDEA, behind IDEA in the loading dock, Oli above the escalator, IDEA in and around the office - no Scavs. What in the hell are these quests that require you to wear highly visible low-protection armor where you stand out like a neon billboard - and the game doesn't even provide the Scavs to kill for the quest.

This is maddening.

I'm assuming alot of quest are just placeholder to fill out playtime between wipes and give people challanges.

Hopefully there are better more sensical quest in the final game. And these challanges are side activities that are not required.

Quests serve to augment the game and give players additional objectives throughout a raid. Some quests are hard, some are easy. You seem to think that if a quest is time consuming/inconvenient BSG is at fault for your difficulties. I guess you could say that's true, but one could also say that you are at fault for just being bad at the game. 👍

i have caught a pmc prone in a bush on interchange with the equipment for that 3m quest. i guess he just got something to eat to pass the time and kill the 2nd wave of scavs and playerscavs for his quest. thats one way to do it.

i prefer the way to not play maps/guns/armor that i dont like unless i really need that quest reward or i m bored.

Followup:

Played 3 more Interchanges to complete this stupid stupid quest.

  • first game, found no Scavs. Killed Killa at 5:33 (he does not count for the quest) and then was killed ten minutes later by a player, 1 shot to the head with the Killa Helmet by Igolnik. Spotted a 3 man PMC team in parking garage under IDEA loading dock and two solo PMCS around IDEA.
  • second game, killed by a Scav four minutes in, 2 shot to the chest by 7.62x39 PS by Oli cash registers. According to the damage screen, he actually shot me four times, but I only heard two shots.
  • third game, was actually able to find and kill two Scavs by the IDEA office, then killed by another player by Power Station. No other Scavs present.

I miss the 90's and 00's when games were sold finished and the developers weren't collecting profit on the game for literally years while hiding the game's flaws behind the fig leaf of it's a beta! Or else the alternative, which is this game wasn't very good to begin with.

I'm quitting with it at 26/30.

Once again, you didn't buy a game, you have donated money for game development.

I finished this quest with 2 runs. And im think this is fine.

Go kill some PMC wearing a Ushanke and a horrible weapon, thats where the fun beginns.

I respect the need for specific nitpicky quests that are difficult, but they become straight up tedious, stupid, and unimmersive when the best way to do them is to run the same routine over and over again with an insurance return kit with a 70-90% death rate. I'd rather have to do the quest successfully with fewer kills through survived raids with confirmed kills.

The quests should be difficult, less repetitive, and more reasonable/*dare I say realistic*

Instead of a specific item they should make it a bit more open ended.

like for punisher part 6 they should make it “kill 15 PMCs with a gun that shoots 7.62x54R” instead of forcing me to use the overly expensive garbage SVD.

No, I pre ordered a game in development so I can give feedback on how I think the game should be run. And yet BSG completely ignores its player bases advice.

Just stop already, shoving your nose up BSGs ass won’t get you brownie points with them.

Why do they suck?

The quest you described forces you to learn Scav locations on Interchange. If you enter the mall and go to the 2nd floor you will see at least a gew Scavs there. You can then go back to Scav Camp where they would have spawned by then, and after that hit up Goshan where even more would have spawned.

Wearing the bad gear teaches you how to play with different types of gear and different types of weapons. Some quests make you put on garbage to make you utilize tactics, movement, and positioning as opposed to reliance on gear.

Reading your posts is a textbook lesson of cognitive dissonance.

Someone paraphrased my original post to you, and you rattled off a boilerplate response along with "the official messaging from the developer."

No, these quests do not teach you anything, because they do not teach you anything! "HEY, GO KILL THESE PEOPLE AND WEAR THIS WHILE YOU'RE DOING IT."

"Ok, where are they?"

"OVER THERE, WITHIN THIS 2x2 SQUARE KILOMETER AREA."

"Well sure, but I've been there four times and didn't find anyone. Are there any guaranteed spawns?"

"NO, ITS ALL RNG. NOW GET BETTER AT THE GAME."

"There's a lot of PMCs there, and all of them are shooting bullets that will easily penetrate this armor. It amounts to a "who spotted who first" kind of scenario, where whoever gets the first hit is more likely to win. Do I really have to wear armor that both makes me more visible, and if I am seen, will provide zero protection?"

"YEA YOU DO. WHY NOT, AREN'T YOU GOOD?"

Play more slowly and passively then. I find Scavs in that area 90% of the time.

Wurfy

I play almost exclusively with lvl 2 and 3 armors. Including voluntary use of some 3Ms I've picked up. I do that because lvl4 isn't a huge improvement over 3 and lvl5 is hella expensive.

When wearing high visibility armors like 3M or the Press armor, wear a Tarzan or Scout-Sniper over it because it hides the armor. Doesn't take a genius to figure that one out. As for scavs, play like a rat for the early game, then later on find a scav, kill it and stick around. Very often they proceed to swarm you so you might even get like 15-20 kills without changing position. This means you need to bring a cheap gun with cheap ammo but lots of it, most in magazines. AK-74 PS, ADAR FMJ, whatever you prefer. 240+ rds, 6+ magazines.

That being said, I agree with the premise. I think at the very least you should have more options. One of my pet peeves is the mission where you need to use an M4 in UNTAR gear. Given the explanation for it, there shouldn't actually be any benefit to using an M4 over an ADAR, a gun much better suited for such a poor set of armor. Just the same, there's no reason I shouldn't be allowed to use an RSASS, SR-25, MDR, SA-58, HK-416 or TX-15 given that the only goal is to fool some journos into thinking you're an UN soldier.

And if I am forced to use terrible gear in conjunction with expensive gear, the mission rewards should reflect that.

I wouldnt even say more passively I would just say play slow for first 10/15 mins to give scavs a chance to spawn then charge the poo out of them 👍

As a tip. Go in by night. The Scavs are less accurate and see you mostly later than daytime. Also the white Armor is less a problem. Interchange is on nighttime not that dark than other maps, so you dont need nightvision. And you can combine the task with that from skier in which you have to kill pmcs on nighttime.

Another method to cover the 3m armor ist to wear a tarzan rig or an other one you get from scavs or you can buy from jaeger. I think, i have more problems with scavs onetapping me in the face because of the mask which is not campatible with a visor. But that was a bad play from me.

Yes, the mission is kinda annoying, but "peacemission" is much whorse. I hate it, to run around woods with the "pleasekillme" helmet on. But hey, now i have to do the one with ushanka, scavwest and a shotgun. Thats ducking awsome. Not.
