Sometimes running stock weapons is better than modding the hell out of them

I've had more luck and more fun these past few days using a completely stock AKMS than the usual meta AK builds. I've had nothing but sheer joy in using a PPSH with drum mags than a metafied MPX.

I dont wanna start a new thread so lemme elaborate further.

I lost all my good poo in a raid. Usually I dont care about my gear, but it was special. I decided to treat myself and spent over 100k on a meta M4, and thousands more on armor. And I died literally within two minutes of joining. So I pulled the last weapon I had in my inventory a stock AKMS. And some usec armor. Next 5 raids were so much damn fun. I barely looted at all. I picked up a ppsh in a raid and have been using it nonstop since. I'm having more fun playing tarkov on a budget than splurging on useless mods.

That’s just how tarkov works.

you bring in nice fancy stuff you are for sure going to die and lose it to a squad of sweaty chads.

bring in a budget kit and you survive either because you ran into no PMCs or you only ran into a hatchetling

I think the way you equip yourself becomes the inverse manner in which your mind prepares itself for the raid. More equipment and cash spent equates to a beefy PMC who feels inversely insecure at the potential loss over gain and visa verse. To a point armor is simply a placebo when your legs are right there in the open, and unless you have some high end bits for your weps your only encumbering the ergonomics with accessories you may/may not get a chance to use appropriatley.

The more I avoid using meta weapons. The more I hate them and resent them. The exquisitely detailed attachment, ammo and armor systems are a waste of effort. Tarkov should've prioritized pvp above everything else. That's what's fun. Not inventory tetris and post soviet scavenger simulator 20XX. But going toe-to-toe with an enemy is very fun. I get such a thrill from out thinking my opponent.

i meanwhile greatly enjoy scavenging and surviving the raids and skirmishing with other pmc's however fighting scavs is whats most fun for me. must be all the raven shield i played when i was little.

THe only optics that are worth using are red dots and holos, magnification scopes cause too much of a frame drop .

I'm loving the vudu scope with high ergo guns. Iron sights work better than the dots for me.

Ya do realize this is what Tarkov is right? It's a survival shooter with RPG elements. PvP is just a mechanic, it isn't meant to be the point fo the game. Now, right now, in it's current form PvP is the majority of players desire.

If you didnt want Inventory management and "Soviet Scavenfer Simulator 20xxx" as you put it, then you probably should follow the development and end goal of the game a little more closely, because when it is released, it will be NOTHING like it is in its current form. Nikita and crew have said this countless times in the podcasts.
