Noob questions

Hello,

I'm new in this game, bought the game last week and i feel that it's just impossible to play this game since i don't have much gear and apparently that's the reason why i put 20 bullets in one player and he puts 1 on me and i die.

After seeing some videos on youtube to reach lvl 10, they said to go factory and kill as many as possible. However Factory for me at least has been impossible either by day or by night and so i have a couple of questions:

1) Where do i get nightvision to see player at night ?
2) Where do i get thermal vision to see players body heat through walls ?
3) If i use a lantern, player with nightvision on can see the light coming from my gun or not ?
4) Is there anything else you would recommend to reach lvl 10 ? I play solo and i feel that can't kill most players. Scav bots are easier but most of them are dead before i reach them.

5) The game has been in beta at least since 2 years ago, will the game ever leave beta ?

With thanks and regards,

Hey. It can be tough for new players. There are many great tips on what gear to use etc, so I won't offer a complete guide, but I will try to answer your questions and prove some advice.

1. You can buy night vision which can be attached to a ratnik helmet, as well as many other relatively cheap helmets. Basically you can buy the helmet and the night vision goggles for like 70k.

2. Thermal vision is very, very expensive. You can buy thermal scopes starting at 400k+ and thermal goggles cost 10 million, so this is not a viable option.

3. If you use a flashlight, all players will see it, especially if they have night vision.

4. I would suggest focusing on quests to level up. Check guides for each quest you have and follow them. Also, my suggestion for you is to use 7.62 PS ammo, since it's cheap, available to buy and you can use it either in some AK rifles, VPO and also SKS, which are all great budget guns and this ammo can drop geared players. I also suggest you always use headphones and don't rush when the match starts. Usually, most action happens in the first couple if minutes, so play slow and safe. My favourite map is Shoreline - it's great for farming loot, killing scabs and overall pretty easy, as long as you stay away from the resort.

5. I am pretty sure that the beta will end one day, but I think it's at least 1-2 years away from full release.

Hope this helps!

P.S do scav runs every time that it's available. Use the gear that you recovered in your scav, in a raid on your PMC.

P.S.S map knowledge is critical, so I suggest you learn maps ASAP. It's important to know all spawns and exits. You can also join an offline raid, where you are not risking anything, and scout the maps, get use to them.

Oh, I've been in your shoes about two months ago when I started and I know exactly how you feel.

1. Don't try to level up by PvP. Try doing quests instead - not only do quests provide a nice XP boost, you will also learn a lot about the game through them, especially about the maps. Simply try to complete the task firstly in offline mode so you don't loose your gear if you fail, and when you feel confident enough (when you know exactly how to complete the task, where to find items/keys, where are the rooms etc.) go online and try.

2. Don't spend money on thermals, nightvision and other expensive equipment (mistake I made at the beginning). Trust me, you'll regret it when you loose it in 30 seconds after spawning. Choose cheaper gear accept the fact that you'll most likely die if you happen to come across a higher level player. If you can, run like there is no tomorrow in such cases and rather focus on scavs, lover level players and fighting only when odds are favorable to you. You don't always have to duel with everything that moves, sometimes it's much wiser to just lay low and pick your own fights.

3. Don't go to Factory at the beginning. I'd recommend Customs instead - simply because it's easy to learn, it has moderate loot, and because most of the tasks at the beginning are there.

I have had the game a month and here's some stuff you might like to know:

Firstly: Always have an objective when you go into a raid, and ONLY TAKE WHAT YOU NEED. Don't take a backpack for loot if you are doing a scav hunt. All you need is a weapon, mags and meds.

Also: Do the quests. You will get access to better gear faster as you level up, and the quests help you level.

Only use your PMC for questing at first. Scav runs on interchange at night time are great for getting hideout stuff, expensive things to sell, weapons etc. Just go find dead bodies, loot em and get out when you need weapons/armor.

Don't try and PvP, especially if you are getting frustrated. This will come with time, the more you get to know the maps. The most important thing in this game is not being in the place where you will die, and you have to learn where those places are on every map and there's ALOT of them.

As you learn the maps, learn safe loot runs you can make where you don't often encounter PMCs. Interchange night time is my favourite, just sticking to the stashes on the outside of the map and working my way around them. Its like free money. You maybe encounter a player in 1/10 raids, the rest is just free cash.

I agree night vision and stuff is a bit of a waste at first, until you are able to PvP successfully.

tl:dr know what you are trying to do when you go into a raid, and make every decision about achieving your goal and nothing else. When you've done it, get out.
