Point blank head shot miss

Was doing a night raid on customs. I was sneaking thru the bushes crouched at the slowest speed as not to make any noise. I emerge from a bush in front of the small building near the crossroad by the bridge. In front of me is a player scav crouched against the building with his back turned to me. What a beautiful sight. He hasn't heard me and I'm about 6 feet a way from him. I inch closer and aim my shot gun at the center of the head. If I moved one inch closer I would tap him in the head with the muzzle of my shot gun. I pull the trigger. CLICK, BOOM! The hit doesn't register. The guy turns towards me and I have to put another shot gun blast to the head to put him down. How? It's not desync bro because nobody was moving. I waiting close to 5 seconds savoring the moment before I blew this dudes head off. How is it possible that the hit didn't register. Is the netcode that bad in this game that registering a hit is a total crap shoot?

The bullet trajectory comes from the barrel, and the barrel is lower than the sights. So at that close range sights and trajectory won't line up. You probably shot him in the throat or upper chest.

For a community so obsessed with realism, I can't believe you haven't figured this out yet.
