Died then heard grenade sound

Today on customs I was trying to do the Prapor first quest. After being spawn camped 4 times in a row, I managed to get a few hundred meters inside the map.

I stopped near a wall, to listen for players and try to get my bearings as it was night and new players don't get access to NVGs. What I can only assume was a grenade killed me silently. I heard my character dying, the death animation played, then the grenade sound played.

could be a grenade launcher kill from someone who scanned the map with thermal and spotted you, could just be a grenade launcher kill, could also be a vog from a far away exploding before landing. finally could be the grenade bug if it isnt fixed

My guess is desync with the server.

i constantly strafe peek corners and when there is some sweaty filthy rat camping around that corner I will hear his gun go off and I will die 2 or 3 seconds after I am already back behind cover.

 

honestly it’s unacceptable for an online game like this to have such bad issues with server sync. Unfortunately bsg already has our money, and could care less if the game is playable or not.

Audio desync would my guess.

That being said realistically this is what would happen if someone tossed a grenade next to your feet. Fragments travel initially about 8000 feet per second, but slow down pretty fast because they aren't very aerodynamic. That's twice the speed sound which means you wouldn't hear a thing before being shred to pieces. Or in case of EFT you hear the sound after you're already dead.
