Different GPU/CPU usage

Hey guys,

First of all, I'm gonna introduce my rig so everything following next wil be clear.

My rig currently is : Ryzen 5 2600, GTX 1660 super OC 3fans, 16 gb DDR4 3200 mhz, game is installed on a CRUCIAL ssd 480gb with 80gb+ free.

I've never had my game to run great on my pc, even though it's not a potatoe. All my drivers are up to date, RAM is set correctly and all my other games run well.

I've been struggling finding my settings for eft, but what I figured out is suprising me ... I play in 1080p, my gpu usage is like 29% average. When I put the highest resolution, it makes my gpu goes to 39%. Game is slightly more smooth but not that noticeable. Don't get me wrong, the game is still playable but it's not as smooth as you would expect it to be, just like with any other game you got.

But when I get to factory, my gpu usage is 99-100%, and everything is just butter smooth.

I've been trying every single tuto, every tweaks, anything you can find on the internet to make the game run smooth but nothing seems to change. Butter smooth game on factory, but meh on any other maps. Sometimes game is smoother than the other, but still not as great as on factory. I know the map is small so the optimization is way easier to do, but am I missing something here ?

Game is playable but I have lots of tearing sometimes and a microstuttering feeling all the time. Though, the game is running at 70 average fps but feels like 55fps. I can tell, based on when i look at my gun, when i move to the right or to the left, that the game's running weird.

Been thinking that I could be bottlenecked by my CPU, but i've seen guys with nasa rigs, with 3090 and i9 + 32gb running the game as bad as me, and some guys with 3+ years old rigs running the game just fine... so i'm kinda lost at this point.

Love the game but that would actually be so ducking better with the same optimization as factory. Is there anything i can do to improve the fluidity and optimization ?

Aside from you playing around with settings to get a smoother experience, then no, there's not a lot anyone can do for you. Your FPS is good so it's simply down to what you are experiencing, what one person would call buttery smooth another would call sandpaper rough.

I get what you're saying here, but the fact that I can notice a big difference between factory and other map might not be a thing ??

Dunno, could be a frametime or as mentioned a massive microstutter issue. It's quite a difficult one to say really, 'I have an avg 70 FPS but it just feels slower..' is the symptoms haha

I've heard of games 'feeling' a different FPS to what is reported but it's something I've never really come across and I've never seen any reports of it affecting any EFT players.

What is the native resolution of your monitor? Refresh rate? Why did you change resolution in game? What makes you think you're cpu bottlenecked? Do you run a second monitor?

You said it sometimes runs better, if the game runs bad because of a component or setting issue, it will usually run bad all the time, the variables don't change from back to back customs raids for example, so the experience shouldn't change unless something IS changed if you get what I mean.
