functioning watch

So was searching through ragmans threads and noticed the one has the operators watch facing inward so you can see the face while walking around. Always have been wanting a watch to see the time of day for the quests that are night based. Turns out it doesnt change at all. Can we get a watch that works please! To me its more useful then the compass, i dont even know how to use the compass. Now that the cultists are here i think it would be more useful. I went into a raid and it got dark, didnt think it could possibly be late enough for cultists but low and behold i ran into them.

Yeah, I think it'd be a welcome addition too!

There is one big problem though:

  • Game time runs at about 7x real-world time

Which on the surface may not sound like an issue, but given the dependency on timers, the introduction of a watch could be very confusing. Here's why:

Player:

Quote

"I pulled up my extraction timer, it said 45 mins left. I checked my watch and it was 9:15. I check my watch a bit later and it said 9:21. I thought I still had plenty of time left, but the next thing I know, the raid ends and I'm told I didn't extract in time. What gives?"

And that's because the passage of an extra 6 minutes according to his watch is 6 x 7 = 42 mins.

Now, one possible solution to this would be to have the watch run "fast" and to list extraction times not as a remaining count-down, but as a listed time (ie: Extract by 10:45). But that doesn't really simplify things. Sure, the time's listed in-game might "match" but many players would still be completely confused by the 7x time speed.

(But maybe there's another approach out there I haven't considered?)

i dont think people would have too terrible of a timer figuring out the difference of game time and tarkov time. If they do im sure itll be once and they will fiure it out.
