How much does weapon durability matter?

I got an AKMS from a raider and it has about half durability. So I'm curious if I'm better off stripping the guns parts that I want and selling it, and then buying a new one and putting the parts on that one? Or should I just repair it and use it? Repairing weapons doesn't really seem to improve them by any noticeable amount.

You can't repair above the red bar;

Also seems that the jamming was fixed, I jammed my virgin MDR on day 1 twice and never jammed anything again and I just use scav guns cause I'm not 15 even yet.
