Penetration and Armor

Long story short: is the value for penetration of the AP-20 somewhat "bugged", is the AP-20 itself bugged or is it simply one of the strongest rounds in the game? Just asking because it has a pen value of 37 but oneshots a full Gen4 HMK with Armor Class 5. How and why is this possible, when the round should at least "struggle" to pen the armor? And by struggle i don't mean it shouldn't penetrate, but i don't think it should pen with the first shot and kill instantly. What are your thoughts on this round?

Armor mechanics and bullet pen aren't fully complete features so there are inconsistencies like bullets piercing plates that are rated to stop them multiple times in real life.

AP-20 however is rated to pierce NIJ IV body armor irl, its a nasty slug. DDupleks makes them.

Yeah, i saw a vid about AP-20, pretty strong slug. But imo it shouldn't be able to pen a full Armor Class 5 Vest AND instantly kill. Maybe a bit of adjustment would be nice.

AP-20 has a 1.2% chance to penetrate Gen 4 HMK. You probably died from blunt damage or got insanely unlucky. 
 

AP-20 does 167 base damage. It does tons of blunt damage too. Probably how you died.

The lower the durability on your Armor the higher chance for AP-20 to penetrate.

65/65: 1.2%
55/65: 4.0%
45/65: 10.5%
35/65: 24.8%
25/65: 57.6%
15/65: 94.9%
05/65: 98.1%

That would it explain a lot. Unlucky is like my second name, unfortunately.

no the gen 4s are bugged right now. lol i got hit in the chest with one round of 7mm buck while in a brand new gen 4 and died from blunt dmg then my buddy took it off my corpse and he got killed by one round of ps 5.45 to the chest

I have to agree with this. My one shot to chest deaths in Gen4 continues unabated. Completely useless armor.

Penetration and damage in this game are completly random. Specially if you are using lapua FMJ. 5 shots in chest to kill a PACA scav. Don't know how many to die to a PMC at dorms. But certainly more than 8 hits.

Also a Korund can sustain 1 AP20 slug before getting to half resistance, than you die. I always use korund because you get them "free" on Prapor3 as diaries are found in any vault and kept in docs case.
