You lose karma for defending a AI scav being attacked by a player scav ?

I mean, I'm very confused about this, I was scav run in Factory, and a guy came out of nowhere and shot at me ( missed tho ), so I got to hide behind a AI scav, the guy started shooting him, so I killed the player scav, but then the AI scav started attacking me, and when I extracted, I lost karma for both the player scav kill and the AI scav kill. I don't really understand as the player scav clearly shot at the AI scav ( the AI scav even fired back ), so he should be marked as a traitor doesn't he ? So why when I killed him I got labeled as a traitor, I really don't understand.

Is this a bug or a genuine game mechanic ? 'cause it doesn't makes sense to me at all.

It's very simple - when you scav, first thing you do is wear knife, then drop knife so you have nothing in your hands and are defenseless - this is the ONLY way to increase your Karma because currently you are 90% more likely to lose karma when shooting someone, than to gain it. Players have all left long before scavs enter so the only things left are bosses and evil scavs to kill you - and if they attack you, you cannot retaliate without losing karma.

As a scav - you never, ever, EVER - fire your gun or attack with the knife.

To be fair, I'm really surprised by the number of friendly scav players I encountered. We exchanges gift, dance, waves hands, pretty cool.

But when you get to kill an aggressive scav player, and still manage to lose karma, I think that's a problem.

Of course it's a problem mate, and has been since they introduced the karma system... they can't (or can't be arsed) to fix it so we are stuck with it.

It seems that BSG want to make the game so miserable to newcomers that they hope you will just bin the game and never come back...  ;)

Is that what they want to do? Maybe the problem is deeper than that, maybe programming is the problem, maybe people are expecting behaviorisms in game that are not viable in regards to programing advanced algorithms that allow for more dynamic A.I behavior....but i am sure you are correct.....they just dont want you to come back to the game??????

I was just using a bit of sarcastic humour mate... I'm sure they do want users to stick with the game, but they almost give the impression that they don't care that the karma system is knackered (we all know that) and they give no feed back that they intend to even try to do something about it.

Ahhh....i see, then this post is even less factual than your last one "mate"

I think you getting two issues confused in all do respect. Without complex algorithms the current iteration of scav karma is just an example of what BSG WANT do versus what they CAN do And these are two very separate issues at this point. They are or were limited by the game engine which they just upgraded i am not exactly sure what specific tools the new UNITY 2019 engine has that may help them implement advanced forms of A.I behavior including advanced A.I threat analysis, meaning A.I being able to deduce when a player is threatening them, say by shooting incredibly close to them and even then what you in essence would be asking for is for A.I to do is to try to determine "intent".....which is a whole other animal so before you go using any more "Sarcasm" try to understand that there are limitations to every technology....and just because a developer falls short of the publics expectations doesn't mean they purposely PLANNED it that way.....but rather at the moment do not posses the tools to complete the full picture.......but of course they still have time to see this complex issue to fruition.......and i believe they will do just that.

At 8:32 they ask Makita about the "PMC Karma system and you can learn alot from his response,....Its probably pure frustration at this point.....but theyll get it...lol, and then Nakita will look like he hasn't slept in 4 weeks.......lol, Even figuring how it will all work together would be a programmers nightmare.

There just needs to be a harsher punishment for killing scavs as a scav. steeper penalties, locking out fence as a trader until you gain enough rep back, or lose your scav runs all together. You can still gain fence rep via using car extracts (at a much steeper cost) and for the shared pmc scav extracts but lets be honest.. People with steep negative rep don't care about the rep anyway. so just lock them out for poor behavior and maybe they'll get tired of not being able to scav and shape up.

Yes, Yes and Yes. I agree 100%. The penalties at the moment are a joke. They really need to stick it to traitor scavs. Make it the penalties hurt.

Sarcastic humour, just to be clear, I'll use whenever I see fit... as to the state of scav karma, there has been tons and tons of complaints about it since it was released, yet no clear comments or acknowledgements from the BSG chaps on what they intend to do about it.

Yes, I'm also well aware that it's difficult to code the AI to work properly within scav karma, but yet again I'll state the obvious... if it's not possible to introduce a proper skav karma system, why on earth would you release it into the game when it's not fit for purpose?... surely, they would have realised it would cause a shed load of complaints (which is exactly what happened)...

If we all fawn all over the developers and tell them Tarkov is fantastic and is perfect like good little fanbois then the game will never improve.

I'll continue to play and support the game of course because I'm desperate for it to succeed... I'll also encourage others to buy it, but I won't play the fanboi to any game if I think something is desperately wrong.

"if it's not possible to introduce a proper skav karma system, why on earth would you release it into the game when it's not fit for purpose?"

Software development DOESNT HAPPEN ANY OTHER WAY??????????????. They build a Model the best they can, with the tech they have at their disposal, they bring it to the game in the form of a BETA testing model, they let the Public play it, Public finds flaws.....they go back to the drawing board,...redesign, and release it once more until their vision is realized. What don't you get about this process, you realize YOUR NOT PLAYING THE FINISHED GAME????

I don't think you get it..............and i am not sure you want to because by this time if you were capable of having a logical understanding about how the process actually works you would simply understand this.....and do what we ALL have to do.....Wait until they fix it,  but you simply seem like you can't be bothered with this process, nor have the ability to understand it in it's totality. I understand people like you because i talk to them all the time at my place of employment, there is no reaching these people due to the fact that you are simply asking someone who doesn't fully understand the complexity of the issue but rather trying to explain geometry to someone who only has a rudimentary understanding of mathematics.

I am a "fanboi" and love the game,..that's why i bought it, AND i understand the process because i try to have a level of maturity about the issue, but there are a lot of children on this forum, and there is nothing wrong with that it can be frustrating at times to discuss mature topics with immature or uneducated people. They just don't get it.....and might never get it.

Hey guys, that explains why BSG re introduced steam audio when it was broken as hell, although they claimed it was fixes (100% grade horse crap), then us as the community were just flabbergasted as to how it passed QA only for BSG to implement a private pre patch testing server that is invite only. 🤡

This dude is breathing heavy doses of copium

I wouldn't walk into a couple guys having a quickdraw duel only to shoot the winner.

I wasn't aware I was in any kind of duel?... I'm merely stating an opinion, just like anyone else.

Screw scav karma, i got effed by it again today two scav raids in a row. I'm absolutely sick of it, and the people that defend it. I'm killing all of y'all from now on, you've ruined any trust I had in other gamers and im going to revel in the thought of y'all getting pissed off about it. It's a terrible, broken system, and i just wont participate in it anymore, consequences be damned.

I agree with the sentiment and I had the same choice - either not participate by KILLING everyone, or not participate by NOT KILLING anyone at all - not even putting up a fight. Want to kill me? Go ahead, I'll have a new scav in 5 minutes with even better gear than the one you killed. My advice - throw away all guns and knives, and just head to the exit without shooting anything at all, get some loot out too.
