Make Iron Sights Usable

Simple: make rear aperture sights larger and more open.

In EFT and many games, iron sights are very restrictive and often unusable because of how obstructed your view gets. IRL when looking down a sight, the human eye adjusts to focusing solely through the aperture and you get a large unobstructed sight picture. Hitting a target at 300m with iron sights is not overly difficult IRL. So hitting a target with irons at 25m in game should be easy, but it's not.

In COD, Battlefield, and some other games, the devs have realized this and adjusted the rear aperture to be larger and less obstructive. BSG should do the same. Game mechanics have to compensate for their inability to emulate RL "mechanics". The human eye doesn't adjust for depth of field on a 2D monitor like it does in the 3D real world.

Changing the sights would be a huge improvement to the efficacy and authenticity of iron sights. Especially since EFT emphasizes realism.

In order to balance iron sights and keep other sights relevant, iron sights should actually give a penalty to ergo while red dots should give a bonus to ergo. After all, it takes much longer to line up an iron sight than it does to point a dot.

Please let me know your thoughts and please don't be a pedantic asshole.

I disagree with your idea that irons need a buff. Optics need a massive nerf in availability because everybody has a red dot. Everybody has a reflex sight. Everybody has some sort of scope where the reticle remains aligned in full auto. Even with a low recoil gun, it is tricky to use it in full auto with ironsights because of sight alignment which is a mechanic in game.

Optics are too available and too easy to use. They should require batteries or have some more parallax. Parallax is why nobody uses the Walther MRS or the Trijicon RMR, the reticle sways twice as much as the gun if you test with a laser. Irons are even worse than having a high parallax optic like the RMR/MRS. Many reflex sights have what is effectively 0 parallax, just test with a laser while ad strafing in ADS.
