Horrible Lag when shooting (Unplayable)

I recently just re-installed the game.  At first it lagged so bad I couldn't play.  I noticed my GPU clock speed would go down sometimes to as low as 20mhz instead of constant at 2400mhz.  I play other games daily like Squad and have no issues at all.

I researched online, found some possible solutions.

  • I updated my graphics card (AMD RX6800XT)
  • I set my AMD adrenaline to advanced and locked my minimum clock to 100 below my max
  • I lowered my graphics settings to minimum
  • I used DDU cleaner
  • I unplugged my extra 3 monitors
  • I switched my game to a 27 inch monitor rather than my 34 inch wide curved
  • Set my PC to ultimate performance mode
  • Checked my MipStreaming setting and it is at "false"

I was finally able to get the game to be playable through either removing old drivers using an app or possibly the recent game update (yesterday).

However, now when I fire the gun in game it lags horribly.  My CPU specs are more than enough to run this game.  I'm running an overclocked 8700K, AMD overclocked RX6800XT 16GB RAM, 32GB system RAM, Samsung 980 SSD.  I noticed now my GPU clock will remain constant at 2400 until I fire and it will drop considerably.  I monitored my FPS in game and while firing.  I get about 110-120 until I fire and it will drop to around 50-80.

I played Tarkov in the past with this same PC but with half the system RAM, a GeForce 1080 8GB RAM, and a slower SSD

Ive searched the internet and found others with this problem as far back as Jan 2022 but I haven't found a solution.

Ideas?

Thanks

Its not you, it's the game.

The desync, hit registry, and rubberbanding is complete dogshit.  It's worse now than any wipe (and this is #6 for me).

Absolutely unplayable.

Ive been having the same issues with NVIDIA 360TI. Literally losing about 90% of gun fights because of it. It was *briefly* okay for me for about 2 days, then the update hit and now its worse than ever, ive tried offline raids and its much the same. Game is unplayable for me at this point.

I'm also having the same problem. Game lags horribly when ever I shoot. Even in offline mode. My computer was fine last wipe. its this wipe that's messing things up. Hopefully they fix it. I'm running a Ryzen 7 and a 6900XTT

I saw that video yesterday too.  This game feels like 4 years ago this patch with the amount of desync.  The micro stutters are back,, the hit registry is trash.  Major step back this wipe except for new and improved flashlight visuals and running animations.  Scav AI and delayed deaths are bordering hilarious if they weren't shooting you after you blast them in the head and wait for them to die.

I'm so disappointed as I love the first few weeks of EFT's wipe, but this time that experience was robbed and replaced with a buggy crap show.

Hello all i have an experiment i would like you to run if you can. Try going into a offline raid on your worst running map (excluding lighthouse, for me i used shoreline) and turn scav spawns off and see what your fps is. Then do the same thing but with scavs on horde mode and see if there is a difference in the stutters and fps.

I have been having horrible stutters and hitches when walking and ADSing for the past couple of days and have spent way to much time trying to figure out what is going on experimenting with different graphic settings and what not.  The only thing that makes the hitches and skips disappear is removing scavs from the map on offline mode. Let me know if you have the same results of if im just an outlier. i go from 80fps with hitches and skips to 144fps when no scavs are present on the map.

Having the same issue.

mip streaming has always been  turned off.

Ryzen 7 5800x
AMD Radeon RX 6600 XT
32 GB Ram

Game runs very smoothly as soon as I fire I drop to 6-7 frames per second. Second I stop firing game goes back up to 120~ FPS.

I recently upgraded my 1070TI 8GB  to a AMD RX 6600 XT 8GB

Will attempt to lower textures maybe and see if that fixes but this is lame just got a new card and this happens.

haha yeah amd haha

All jokes aside maybe the 7 year old Nvidia is the way to go until this is fixed, but I did see 1 poster say this was happening to him on his Nvidia 3600 as well so maybe this a bug and not and AMD thing....

I received an answer from my support ticket but I tried everything and it didnt help at all.  Here is what they sent me:

Escape from Tarkov Support 21:15 14.07

Hello EaglezEyez!

We apologize for the late response, this is due to the increased load on game support. In connection with this, answer may take several days. Please wait patiently, we will definitely respond to all requests.

Set swap file to 20 GB, restart your computer and try to play.
We recommend that you use it on an SSD drive that is different from where you installed the OS and games. On other drives, it should be disabled.

Uninstall the video driver using the DDU program, download the latest version from the manufacturer's website and install a clean install.

Delete the "Graphics.ini" and "PostFx.ini" files along the path C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Roaming\Battlestate Games\Escape from Tarkov\Settings

Thank you for contacting us!
Respectfully yours, the Escape from Tarkov support service.

The common theme I am seeing in everyone's reply is that we are all running AMD cards.  My son is playing with the same intel processor I am but instead of the 6800 he has a 6700.  He doesn't have any issues.  I'm not sure why.

I used to play this game on my gforce 1080gtx and had no issues but that was probably 6 months ago.  Maybe it is just a bug, I dunno.

Question for everyone.  Do you have your game installed on your windows ssd or a separate one?  I have my game installed on a secondary SSD and windows on its own.

This worked!!! Guys! , make sure you restart your PC in SAFE MODE! Just in case there are issues with DDU. Its a very simple process. Thanks to all the awesome chaps on this thread. May the loot lord bless you this wipe

Tried this originally without using safe mode.  Tried again today using safe mode.  No fix.  My clock speed drops from 2400 to 50-200 when I fire still.

I HAVE FOUND THE FIX FOR THIS PROBLEM GUYS.

It happens for people who switched from NVIDIA cards to AMD, simply put, the old drivers from NVIDIA are messing up the game, i don't exactly know why.

After i uninstalled anything NVIDIA related from my PC using DDU, the problem vanished.

HOPE THIS HELPS.
