Regarding the insurance system there are two adjustments that I would like to suggest.

  1. Have a chance of not receiving your insured items back. There should be a 'difficulty of finding' % applied to your insurance items depending on the obscurity of the place where you hid them or where you died with them on your person.  -So if you hide them in a bush in the middle of nowhere, then there should be a very high chance that you do not get them back at all.       Of course there could always be a possibilty that you die in a ridiculously hard to find place, but then the guy who killed you picks up your stuff and then dies to an AI scav in a more obvious place. So you might get it back after all...
  2. Make it so that if you do not accept your insurance items back into your stash in time, and you get the message "Out of time", then the trader should give you 50% of the value of the items in cash.

Only improvement insurance needs - is getting more expensive over time if you keep loosing items.

It's how it would work IRL but IRL when you are dead you don't need insurance anymore. Insurance company can't charge you more by penalties like in the case of an insurance for a car after a car crash. It will make no sense.

I guess we can't argue about something that is already a compromise with realism with realism as argument.

On the top of that, it will creat a gap between relativly good players and bad players. A good player who not dying often will have good price and a bad player the opposite. It's a double punishment in a game already punitive, it's kinda over the top.

Ok let's assume you didn't die,

You go in raid - loot somebody and drop your stuff in the raid so you can get it back trough insurance effectively doubling your loot capacity. Should be more expensive as you 'loose' more gear. Russian traders don't like to be scammed >.< :D

Or, they can simply don't activate insurance if you extracted :)

Most of the time, the point of insurance in this game is because you died I'm afraid

I would say that what I said above, along with what sYs said about it getting more expensive dependent on your K/D, are things that would make the insurance system more realistic.

There is no way that the trader's scavs would be able to find your gear if you placed it in the middle of nowhere.

Nor should you lose the insured items if you don't collect them in time.

Or you should be able to choose whether you want the insurance paid back with the actual items, or with cash...

true but dying too much is a bad thing :P and people should not rely on insurance to get stuff back.

Each patch this game is getting easier and easier.

This debate is basically irrelevant. Insurance for a dead person is not realistic. But it's used as a trade-off to make the gameplay slightly more approachable.

Insurance is fine the way it is.

As for getting easier and easier with each patch.. this is PC game dev 101. The game starts as super hardcore, gets popular as the flagship for that game type and starts to sell more. As popularity increases the game will ultimately be made more accessible for the masses and as the $$$ start coming in to the game devs the decisions start to take an approach-ability bias. If you think this won't happen with EFT then you're likely kidding yourself.
