I would like to see the possibility of leg armour and knee pads as i feel the rest of the body protection is fine why is there no leg armour.

also what about the posibility of finding armour and helmets around on map's possibly like open maps rather than factory?

So, while good in theory, You need to look at the part of how it's applied in a practical sense, And by that I'm referring to Law Enforcement and Military use.

Sure, In video game world Leg Armor seems like a great idea. However In real life, Leg Armor is only used by specialist units (EOD) and by Riot Police. People often forget that Modern firefights aren't won by who's wearing the most body armor, But rather who's the most mobile.

Mobility is key, all any weight on your legs will do is slow you down. There's been an incredibly amount of research done into something as simple as boots, and how to reduce weight. Because while first putting all of that crap on you may feel fine, Fatigue will kick in very quickly, even for those who're used to wearing it.

When you're looking at your various armor classes, Being Soft Armor, Plated (for bullet protection) Then things like Stab vest and spike vest are entirely different worlds. The current leg armor that exists, Isn't designed to provide ballistic protection, But rather from shrapnel, and people throwing rocks ect.

Look back at the past couple hundred years of Warfare after the development of the Firearm in various forms. Leg Armor isn't popular for very good reasons. Granted, In the past twenty years or so, We've only had the technology to make truly protective and lightweight protection.

In a nutshell,

Leg Armor is useful in it's designed purpose, where mobility isn't key (I.E fighting in a Roman style formation against rioters) and it really doesn't provide that much actual protection against any firearm. You'd basically be asking the designers to dump resources into a useless item in game.

Just my few cents.

So theres only really one way to fix this. Stop the LazerScavs from being able to blow your legs out even when your legs are not visible.

To be fair, long range firefights are a lot less common in tarkov, most of our combat zones are high value loot zones that are indoors, so the strategies for long range, low risk firefights are not really that major in Tarkov.

Armor that would probably rate as class 2 (On the western scale,) does appear to exist for the legs (But it gives claims of a "Difficult to certify," class 3A armor because they claim narrowly fits the standard, but if I had to guess, it likely does something like failing the wet-armor tests, given most soft armor loses performance when wet,) that weighs around 3KG for both legs (or 1.8KG for just the upper leg.)

The question here being, this stuff is rare. What sort of painfully rare trade would you think is "worth it" for leg armor, how many units of leg armor would you expect to feasibly be smuggled into tarkov, and what sort of changes to the metagame would need to happen for paca-level leg armor to fit in (Since, that is the best I have been able to find.)

After all, how cheap would pistol caliber weapons need to get if "Shooting him in the leg" doesn't work on some heavily armored end game juggernaut?

The more bullets it takes to down the person in this game will make a move in the unrealistic direction.

Imagine being a player in a better position with HP ammo, you shoot at him and instead of him taking cover , he just charges and takes you down because he has full fort armor with "leg armor" and a m4.  At least at this point, that lower level player has a chance by shooting him in the legs, and that higher level player knows this so he will (at this point in the game) give the engagement more respect, and not try to "call of duty it"

I know people spend alot of time in this game and feel like if they have full armor, 100K+ weapons, and full attachments they shouldnt be taken down by a newbie with a pistol, but thats the "rush" about this game.    I know its frustrating to be taken out by a low level when you have 500K+ in gear but once that aspect is taken out, all this game will be is a un rewarding grind fest.

If damage due to backface deformation was a reasonably balanced thing (Taking a % of damage from the kinetic energy acting on you in non-penetrative ways, causing fractures and the like,) we could have armor be beatable, but also not have it be useless.

Body armor is meant to keep people alive, not unharmed necessarily.

Leg armor isn't practical in the manner this game illustrates. It's clunky, mainly used for bomb defusing. They'd have to totally take away your ability to run, but then you'd just complain about that.

If more injuries like fractures happened if you got shot with armor, it would make it a lot less overpowered.

But while armor only has you take (1, or 0) damage when it absorbs a hit, right now it should be somewhat limited.

leg armor is usefull when it comes to CQB. There was a shootout in 97 at Hollywood, 2 bank robber used suit of kevlar and assault rifles. Actually there is a movie about it too named "44 minutes" and not bad at all for a tv movie. One of the robber who is wearing leg and arm armor had shot 27 times before get arrested. If i remember correctly, those are limb shots, chest shots not included. And devs get nerfed the damn fort again. The point is, it can be usefull in the maps like factory.

That's because the police officers who responded to the shooting only had 9mm pistols and shotguns (and one of the shooters was killed regardless.) One of those two men was actually killed by being shot in the legs with rifle fire by responding officers, where the armor did not help. In a game where a majority of players use AKs or M4s, soft kevlar limb protection is largely irrelevant.

That is true. On the other hand there is nothing much to help you against a veteran player using assault rifle with ap bullets in cqb if he fires first.  But it will help you against lucky newbies with small arms, scavs, grenades or ranged firefight. What we really need to see is modular vests with more durable armor plates, realistic medical treatment and for my personal taste, tube fed combat shotguns. Things like leg armor is not necessity, just appetizer. It can be put in a season pass or not done at all.
