Just copy the EFT (live) into the Battlestate Games folder and change the location via the launcher and wait. After a few secs or a min the Launcher will check the integrity of the files automatically.
(The above test is what happened for me.)

God speed.

In case anyone is still running into this problem I think I found the solution which is actually incredibly easy.

I tried absolutely everything listed above to change my install path using that option on the launcher prior to installing the game and I kept getting the same messages you are getting.

Simply click the install button anyways and it will pop up another window that will allow you to change the drive. I changed it on there and it worked no problem. I'm not entirely sure why they include some option prior to installation that doesn't even seem to work properly, it just causes confusion.

After 6 hours of technical difficulties, re-installs & reading forums, I think you may have finally solved my problem ! Managed to get the  download finally started on my SSD after countless failed attempts, will update to confirm if game actually launches from my SSD after downloads done. Thanks a million.

EDIT - I also did have to make a separate "EFT" folder inside of the Battlestate Folder on my SSD incase anyone else is trying the same thing.

Some salty and PC noobish boys commenting here it seems! Try to help people/answer questions before whining and talking garbage please!

In answer to your question @DetectxDelete -

Yes, Tarkov can be installed on any drive of your choosing, SSD for the win with map load times. I never had Tarkov installed on my root (C:) drive as I only have Windows on that. I installed it on a secondary drive and later moved it to a new SSD at a later stage (SSD made a big difference performance wise). Can't remember exactly when it asked for install location, very early in the install launcher sequence though as it would have to ask for a location before installing. As mentioned, make a folder if it doesn't auto create one, as in if you want to install on 😧 drive  make sure rthe installer has more than just 😧 as the path, so make a folder like 'tarkov' or whatever and point installer to that (D:/tarkov). I had zero issues with install and even moving drives after installing. With regards to other comments, good idea to make sure your Windows login is an Administrator level account and it's generally a good idea to disable antivirus when installing software from a trusted source... Antivirus programs flag a lot of games as false positives, usually the antivirus being over protective.

Thank you for this information it worked like a charm.

You must install the "launcher" onto your main drive.

Then when you open the launcher, before you click install, you can select "change folder" (Located Just above the big yellow INSTALL button.)

From there make sure you select a folder and not just the drive. Labled Tarkov, or Battlestate, or whatever you want.

Just to chime in -- I got this working as well after a little bit of trial and error. Note that my experience does not require saving it to the C:\ drive and then moving it, I was able to install it directly to a separate drive.

I installed the launcher to a completely new SSD that has nothing on it. I ran the launcher and clicked the big, yellow INSTALL button. It gives you the option to change the install path but I had the same issues as others when trying to install the game to anything other than C:\Program Files\Battlestate Games\EFT. Eventually, I just created that same EXACT folder structure on my new SSD minus the Program Files (G:\Battlestate Games\EFT) and it worked. It's seemingly hard coded to require a top-level folder called "Battlestate Games" and an "EFT" folder within that.

Note: It CANNOT be BattleState Games, at least in my experience -- even just the capital S screwed up my attempts. Just look at how it's trying to install it to C:\Program Files and mimic that exactly, again, minus the Program Files part.

It's still installing -- time will tell if it actually runs.

Was having this same issue.  After some tinkering I was able to copy/paste and verify.  Video with fairly simple instructions here
