Pr8Dator
Since everyone's complaining about hatchlings being OP. I decided to do an experiment to see if its true. I decided to consecutively do 3 runs as hatchling and 3 runs as Geared. All runs in Factory. The results are: All 3 runs as hatchling ended up died in the mud, no kills and with just a couple of looted items in the magic container. (in one of those runs, I really did try to zig zag the PMC I ran into unknowingly in order to do the magic knock on the head, he killed me before I could even get close...). XP was next to none, loot was laughable (about 3000?) 3 runs geared (2 rounds with MP5 and 1 round with SAIGA12, both wearing Kiver and UNTAR and carrying a MBSS) ended up getting killed on 1 round (I was stupid on that death I must admit) and surviving the next 2 rounds with 10 kills in total and full loot. Total of about 9000 XP gained and loot worth a total of about 150,000. So yeah, I guess hatchling really doesn't do better than geared (at least for me on my unscientific experiment with no control environment and parameters) so those of you still playing only hatchling, I encourage you to go geared for once and see how much more XP and loot you actually get out of it (clue : pls don't bring your expensive modded weapons... just a simple AK-74N you can get by exchanging with a blackrock will do.. and where to get the blackrock? Just get it off dead bodies everywhere when you play Scav. I dare bring MP5 cos I was actually quite confident of surviving but I lost the first MP5 on the death. No big deal, collect 10 more knives and exchange for 1 more. ) Edited May 6, 2018 by Pr8Dator
TheHappyMile
Well it's pretty obvious that hatchlings die more often - especially on factory? On the other hand you can easily run shorelines if you have keys and come out with 2 primary weapons ready to use. I think the damage-change was needed and BSG got it perfect. There is really no reason at all to even try being a hatchling if you have at least a makarov to use - killing bots with a hatchet must be a pain I'm definitely seeing less hatchlings and was killed by no-one at all in 0.8 even without using helmets (nearly) at all. Kivlov
Hatcheting is far too difficult now. I only do it when I am farming or am sick of losing gear. The main nerf is that because I am so weak and cannot run 100 meters without running out of stamina you can't swing your hatchet as it now drains stamina. I like that to prevent people chasing you down and sprinting across the map to hatchet you on factory, but at the same time it really annoys me that I get faced to face with another player and I can't even defend myself because I am trying to rush to an area or out of the map. It also does a lot less damage now it seems. I have hit a guy in the head twice for him to turn around and to take me down. I hate the whole thing in general but sometimes I just refuse to bring anything in if I want to just farm quest items. You do get way more by being geared, that said, on the other hand, with the aimbot scavs and armor basically doing nothing to protect you these days I often feel I would be better off just running in with no armor and a makarov, I just get sick of having to keep buying back gear every two seconds when I get 1 tapped after being in a raid for 15 seconds. orion310591
Fact I have noticed is that I am forced to play tactically if im scav or pmc with shotgun/scav_weapon thus performing much better... Just a few examples... Much better game experience than going in raid with full gear... Anyway whats the excitement to get in geared and get out geared... And thats why I have EOD stash filled to the last slot...

For me, geared is just a saiga 12 with untar and any old helmet. Edited May 6, 2018 by Pr8Dator
