Pr8Dator
This is a big topic that I should have covered earlier. I personally went from extreme gear fear when I first started to now comfortably running weapons like modded MP5s etc without any fear... here's how I did it and how you can too: 1. Never bring to a raid what you cannot easily replenish. The reason gear fear comes about is you losing stuffs you cannot easily replenish. If you can easily get back or buy back the stuffs you lose, you won't fear losing it, right? That means leaving those goodies you got from whatever package you bought behind. Those what I call "Christmas Tree Weapons" are good for your own offline PVE pleasure, don't bring them to a raid when you are a beginner because you know you can't replace those parts and therefore you will have EXTREME gear fear which always gets you killed instead. 2. Graduated Approach To Replenishment - Beginner level So, if you should only bring to a raid what you can easily replenish, it means being realistic and take a graduated appraoch to it. When I first started, I gear fear so much I only ran around as a hatchling. But it didn't take me long to figure out that I can easily loot all kinds of shotguns and vests when I play as Scav (and play it correctly, meaning you dont' go around killing other Scavs and you avoid combat as much as possible). Every Scav run I make I am almost guaranteed to pick up 2 shotguns, a vest and a body armor. So, I started to run my PMC with only those shotguns and those vests and body armor because after I die, I hop into a game with a Scav and loot it all back! LOL! So there's no gear fear whatsoever knowing that there is almost nothing to lose because you can always get it back on your Scav run! However, you don't want to be stuck with low level shotguns only right? And therefore no need to spend extra money to insure anything! 3. Graduated Approach to Replenishment - Intermediate Level I always advise players to first master playing Scav before mastering PMC because Scav is your supply line! After you get really good with looting with Scavs (so many tricks to bag so much loot! 50,000 to 100,000 per run easily!) and you are sick of just playing shotguns and wanna try more fun things (or that now you have stocked up so many of them you don't care anymore). It is time to stop using your Scav to loot for weapons and vests that you would use but to use your Scav for MONEY MAKING~! That means learning how to loot for maximum money! (Pls read my thread on how to manage money). After you get the hang of it, you can easily make 50,000 to 100,000 per Scav run and that's when you can use that money to quickly level up traders and have a constant access to more interesting weapons. At this stage, always stick to weapons and parts that you can afford to keep buying! Again, that means no need for Christmas Tree Weapons! A red dot sight and a foregrip is all you need at this stage and you can easily replenish them as much as you like! (red dot sight from Skier and foregrips from Peacekeeper level 2 ) 4. No Gear Fear For Interesting Weapons Once you get to this level, you need to know that there are some interesting weapons that can actually be easily replenished even though they look expensive! What's applicable for beginners at this point is to level Peacekeeper up to level 2 and then you will have access to MP5. MP5 may look expensive but its REALLY CHEAP and easy to replenish!! Why? Because you can exchange 10 knives for one MP5! LOL!!! I once collected 9 knives in a single Scav run! LOL! That's almost one MP5 for every run! So I don't even bother to insure my MP5 anymore! Fancy using the expensive MP5SD instead? Well, keep collecting knives, exchange them for MP5, sell the MP5s back to Peacekeeper and soon enough you would be able to afford a MP5SD! In fact, at this stage, being able to get MP5s almost for free and selling them for good money would already give you access to almost everything you wish to buy as long as your trader sells them. From this point forward, its all about quickly levelling traders and unlocking the good stuffs. So as you can see, the key to all the steps above is a solid mastery of your Scav gameplay. Master that part and you will get over gear fear in no time! Happy hunting!
