Game not playable, freeze/lags netcode ffs

Thank you for ducking up the game, I think its a netcode problem, after the last patch. Its impossible for me and my friends to play the game. As soon as we try to shoot an enemy the game starts to freeze/lag and we are dead. We have all powerful PCs and at least a 200Mbit connection, so the problem is not our hardware or anything else on our side.

For gods sake, please fix this.

ps.: the cheater problem (chod cheats f.e.) is another big problem and worth an own thread

Well done on broadcasting one of the top cheats for eft out right now, maybe it will be a good thing if they are not aware of this one - It has some fancy ability to re invent itself while its in use to avoid detection.

Can confirm, the game is in some cases literally unplayable due to the craptastic desync issues and Christ knows what else. I just TRIED doing a Scav run on Woods. Lucked out and was the first one in. I run to the checkpoint where the one Shoreline key spawns. Try to examine it, make sure it isn't one I already have. No progress bar, no nothing. I try searching the filing cabinet, crate, the medical bag in the back of that SUV outside and the nearby weapon case, SAME DAMN THING.

Got it all on video, will be uploading soon (edit: Or maybe not... raw footage is exactly two gigs, 5:55 recording in 1080p. This is gonna take a while...). Suffice to say this left a very, very bad impression. At least the one Scav run where I got shredded 40 seconds in was somewhat excusable.

I assume you have windows? Use movie maker(its a microsoft product, free) and edit it down. And pick a different resolution. You should be able to get it down to a reasonable size. No one needs to see lag in perfect HD.

Eh, after dinner. Figure I'll upload the raw just so I have a backup of it somewhere, then compress/edit another upload that I'll actually share.

Game only seems to get worse if you make a ticket describing one of the gazillion issues you get a copy and paste answer these days seems like the volume of complaints is increasing aswell.

I think a big part of this is them removing the region lock. I just made a thread about this.

 

Since the region lock was removed I have seen a huge swell of hackers, and tons of lagging players.  I tried it myself by changing to the oceanic region server and was able to drop 3 PMC's with ease because they didnt shoot back. I think because I was lagging so much I was able to kill them before they see my character come around the corner.

 

I think reinstating the region lock would not stop ALL of this, but cut down on a large portion of it in one easy step.  Unless there is something I am missing, game development and networks are not my area of expertise, so it could be something else all together.  

But this desperately needs to be fixed.  I'm about ready to give up, and shelf this next to DayZ Standalone.

I almost wonder also if you join a server if players from a different server are getting forwarded to yours or vice versa.

I think the region lock is a good idea like if you have higher MS then X especially while the current net code is really bad (they said they would increase the speed when they go live)

Using the best network models:
Peer-to-peer is the best network model for 1v1 fighting or sports games, while for any other fast-paced online game with 2+ players, the dedicated server model provides the best possible online experience—though it is expensive.

The game must feel responsive:
High tick and update rates keep the additional delay low and prevent "super bullets" (bundling of damage).

Security:
The design must be secure (never trust the client), which will make it harder to create cheats and hacks.

Low latency is key
Matchmaking must try to avoid mixing players with widely different pings.
When the dedicated server network model is used, developers must ensure that all players have access to low latency servers. If they can't, a global launch will cause serious problems, as players will not like playing at 150ms or higher ping, and players with 20ms ping won't enjoy receiving shots from high ping players far behind cover.

Limit lag compensation:
Even if matchmaking ensures that all players have a similar ping at the start of a round, a player's latency can still increase as the match progresses. There has to be a reasonable limit in place for how much lag the game compensates for in order to avoid all players suffering as a result of a single player's connection issues.
