Ok I got to ask

I been wondering this for awhile now but does everyone or most players have their server set to auto or do you actually slect the server closest to you ? Reason I ask this is because I have mine selected but my son's game is set to auto . We are on the same network like 5 feet from one another but he lags all over the place on my screen . So we changed it to the same one I am on an no skipping or lagging all over the place anymore for him .

So if you didn't know about this or do know then change it to the right one cause it does honestly help on both ends . But at the same time I have noticed quite a few russian and asian clan members playing on the US servers . I really don't get that when you have your own to play on instead you guys come on our servers an warp around like its funny to you making it impossible to kill you . I remember seeing something about a region lock on here idk if its in affect or not if not then it needs to be so that crap can be cut out . There is no reason for it to be allowed to where we all are warping around on each others screen . Where is the fun the realism the fairness in that ? There is none period .

Cause I just lost a good load out cause of that crap . Two PMC team that was just skipping all over the place I managed to kill one but the other no mater if I even lead my shots nothing hit him an he got me cause of that its bs .

Im in AUS but I play on the west coast US server, i get a ping of about 150. I play on there because the OC server is nothing but chinese hackers (based on their names), playing on the US server people with some of my american mates they dont see me warping around the map and in about 400 raids have only seen 3 hackers (yes i am aware there are still prob just as many but havent seen them myself).

Well yea there is hackers on the US servers they just go an use scavs to do their dirty work with instead of their actually names . But no I was refering to the lag netcode freeze ups that sort of thing . And your american friends probably live on the west coast . I mean regardless the game needs better servers anyways when that will ever get resolved is anyones best guess considering how slow them seem to work on anything around here of importance lol.

As far as I know the host (or group lead) defines the server. If your son's server selection was set on auto and was group lead he might just pulled you over to another server than you manually choose.

Im always group lead . But I know its mostly where each player is located at hence why I say they just need better servers or to finally optimize the game like it should of been done from day one . I am starting to think the devs are rookie ones to be honest cause way too many things that are wrong with this game or more or less been wrong for way too long . If there was actual experienced ones then I doubt very seriously that we would be having all these problems . IMO best thing that could be done is to hire someone as a lead that really knows how to fix this game . Idk guess we will wait an see how the next patch goes an see if they fix anything or break it more like they did with 0.8 .

Always had it set on auto eu, probably about 9/10 games have been smooth and responsive (except the fun bugs, talking desync here). 20ish ping.

I did try a few other servers like HK (270 ping from memory) and others far away from me, didn’t really see much difference in how smooth stuff was, however I was pulling off some superhuman stunts because of the much greater desync. Didn’t find it fun so switched it back.

May or may not be relevant but over the years of complex beta testing I’ve never had as many issues as others, always put it down to experience in the equipment I use, not just computer but the whole lot from wall sockets to cables and internet services, even using a £3,000 firewall that can push some serious throughput. Perks of the industry I guess.

I keep mine set to the one server closest to me, with the ping around 12 to 15. I don't use 'auto' or any of the other servers, just the one with the best ping for me. Which is the west coast, US server (la).
