Apologies - 3kg for AK-74 and 3,6 for AK.74M in real life and 5,1kg in the game. Nonetheless the recoil should be lower than that of the M4

All things equal (having owned both) the recoil is roughly the same. I think this is something that should be accurately reflected in the game.

I never shot a 5.56 gun that has as low or lower recoil than the AK74.
One might consider Wikipedia a poor source but I really haven't find anything else (except few comments on some forums claiming rather similar numbers):
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Free_recoil
AK-74 - 3,4J
M16A2 - 6,4J

I could live with gun having the same recoil as the M4 as recoil might be (to a certain degree) subjective but it should definitely NOT have more. The AK-74 has pretty effective muzzlebrake and difference between 5.45x39 and 5.56x45 is 500J - that's quite a lot. AK-74 with grip, best muzzle device, stock and scope still kicks a lot more than unmodded M4 in the game. That is just nonsense.

I'd say my 74 was a little bit less using the 5.45x39, but not by a significant amount. Place an equivalent barrel length with the AR and give it a muzzle break and it should shoot almost identical I'd imagine. I had the standard flash-hider on my AR, and the standard Bulgarian/Russian 74 break, for reference. I think the 74 style muzzle break does it's job really well, but that thing is LOUD when you fire it. I loved shooting that rifle, heh.

Is the PT Lock supposed to work only with AK 74U and 100 series? Can´t attacht it to the 74N, and the description clearly says it works with 74 verison, may be 74S? Thanks

The AKS 74U and the AK 74N have different stock attachment mechanisms

This is for the AKM / AK 74N style stock mount

Whereas this is for the AKS 74U style stock mount :)

So which traders at which level have a suppressor for it, and what's it cost?

I know that the hybrid silencer works for the 74 with the same barrel adapter as the M4/MPX. Not sure about the AKS, I really dislike that little turd... but definitely works for the 74N. :)

I think PK gets the silencer and rifle adapter at lvl 3. I just got him to lvl 2 last night and I dont recall seeing it... traders inventory has changed quite a bit since the last time I had them at lvl 3. :bemaybe:

Smaller round, smaller casing, less powder... I dare say that I agree. :) The size of the bolt is a factor as well, which is why 7.62 Ak's kick like a mule... 5.45 bolt should be relatively identical to 5.56.

There's also the fact that the M variant of the AK-74 (which can drop in game) has a very well designed muzzle brake as opposed to the flash hider of the M4A1 series.

AR-15s are known to have very tame recoil but, an AK-74M (and yes, I've used quite a few made in various countries) makes it look rough by comparison.

There's also the fact that both the AK-74 and AK-74M (which is heavier) are both slightly heavier than an M4A1, a heavier weapon mitigates felt recoil better.

Ohh thanks buddy, i just got confused because of this

I supposed that where it says AK74 it was refering to the S, N or M version, i'll have to level up Skier so i can get that adapter i guess.

Thanks!

Most likely in the future we will get more versions of AK74, just like the AKSU.

Yeah it is kind of ambiguous, as there isn't really a plain AK-74 to the best of my knowledge? All I've seen is the 74U, 74UN, 74UB and 74N, as far as I'm aware. It may be an error or it may like Borscht says be a precursor for an actual AK-74 yet to be added. Who knows!
