Let's talk about realistic movement.

Hi y'all,

One thing that makes Tarkov ..Tarkov is the way alot of mechanics are implemented. I love the game for it's hardcore nature, the way it makes you ''feel'' guns and gunshots, but there's one thing bothering me which is player movement. Weight does affect your max speed and stamina pool, but people carrying 40kg of weight (and being heavy set guys to begin with) are not as nimble as the game portrays them to be.

For example, people spam A and D when being fired upon, because it's evavise. I'm not against that mechanic, but the way it is now is rather silly. Someone packed with ammo, guns, armor and the like isn't able to do the movements our player makes when strafing quickly from the left or the right. It feels very cheesy and lame, a bit like counter strike.

Your opinions?

Wouldn't say the strafing is super fast, more like moderate. xD My reaction to anything would be take cover, if im in the open i'll run my ass off until I find it. If I am shooting someone in the open field I track their movements or take a clear shot when I can. More of an impact when aiming while A/D or moving in general would be a good compromise leaving the guy getting really no chance to fight back unless he takes a unsuspecting angle.

P.S USEC and Bears look like light weights to me. Maybe 200lbs max but that's just me when i think of heavy set I am expecting 250-330lbs if they were that size it would answer why they can carry 3 forts and 2 guns with guns and helmets and still be able to sprint no problem.

Strafing in this game also punishes your aim quite a bit. Most of the shots will miss if you strafe, even if you hold your aim straight on to people.

Partly because that's how the mechanic works, but it also makes it a lot harder for hits to register due to desync if both players keep moving around during fire fight.

Best ways to kill people now is either stand still and spray for legs if they are armored. Or tap for head.

Strafing and spraying is very ineffective.

i thought this was going to be about not being able to walk over objects that are 4 inches off the ground, having to jump etc.

or when you're walking down stairs or stepping off an object just a few inches high, you make the drop sound as if you're jumping down, thus giving away your position and all this type of stuff.

this thread wasn't about at all what i anticipated it to be.

Not if you're a scav.

I don't think it's so much the "A" and "D" strafing, rather the ability to instantly change your direction of movement.

Both have 0 inertia is the problem for me. It's not the speed of the strafe, but the fact that you can go back and forth, or as you say run and change your direction, with no transition period. That's the part that absolutely has to change to have any semblance of realism. Meanwhile, ADS is so wonky in Tarkov that someone 20 feet from you can dodge you while you try to aim at them. I don't see that working so well IRL.

And that's a whole 'nother kettle of fish that badly needs fixing.
