How is the game doing?

Sold my gaming pc a while back to focus on life and training. Obviously very anxious to know how my favorite game is doing.

-Is it still infested with hackers?

-are glitches still a major issue?

-desync got any better?

-did the game get optimised better yet?

There was a huge ban wave a few weeks ago, and the game has been brilliant since. So much more fun.

Yesterday the cheat went back up tho, so its back to square one.

Desync still an issue

Still needs to be optimised in some areas.

Invincibility glitches still a thing.

Still hacks, I got spotted, sighted and one-shot killed in a split second from 50m while prone in thick bush the other day.  The other player spotted me the instant he came into my field of view and he was angling away from me.  I was 20m away from exit, hurt and pretty much out of ammo and had an ironsight so was staying still and not looking for a fight.  Also getting a bit pissed with one-shotters out of nowhere, and fools who continue to camp spawns and exits.  I'm usually a quiet and careful player, I do constant front sweeps and 360 checks but I might as well be bullish for all the difference it makes.  As much as people like to say camping is legit play, what will end up happening is there will be a bunch of high level campers and no other players, because everyone else will just give up.  The devs do need to find a way to control it or the game will likely die.  There are those who say 'check your corners' but that's useless information when said campers are hiding in bush - by the time you've spotted them (if you even do) it's goodnight.  Their aim is often rather immaculate too.
Also L1 players can find themselves in a game with a team of L30 players with full kit.  That's just wrong, because screw 'reality', players want to enjoy the experience, which is tough to do when your options become 'die' or 'don't play' or 'play Shoreline only'.  I've also noticed that I often find I've spawned into a game that's as much as half an hour in already, so scavs are all dead, loot has all been collected, campers are camped.

Other than the human factor, there have been good changes.  Scavs act more normally now, they also don't 100% one-shot you in the face the instant they see you, from 5m or 50m like they used to.  They hide more, and shoot from cover instead of standing in one place, and they'll split and flank.  They don't talk as much either, so you'll often see them before you hear them.  They still don't perceive threats very well - if you're a scav and  sight a gun at them they should react accordingly instead of just standing there, and they do still hang around the same places.  There are more weapon and accessory options, and the game feels smoother.  They improved performance and reduced the number of scavs, taking some of the load off the servers.  There are now scav bosses that command groups of scavs, but PMC teams tend to rush into those, so they are high risk if you're alone.  Weapon lights seem to be more effective at blinding and fouling aim than before.
A bunch of good changes, I'm sure they'll keep coming, but it'd be nice to be on a more level playing field and to see some bottlenecks opened up to reduce the effectiveness of camping (customs is a good example).  I reckon that if a player stays close to an exfil they should start taking  negative vaues.  If you haven't moved out of X radius within X min, points start reducing, and/or kills won't add points or XP.

Welcome back, sort of :D

In short:

- Patch 0.9 banwave removed A LOT of the cheaters and put famous cheat sites out of business until just recently. Cheats are updated and now fully functional - so far undetectable.

- Yes, well known, unfixed glitches are widely abused. Everyday you see someone posting about the factory exit glitch for example.

- No, desync is still crap and even worse, the hit registration has gone to poo as well.

- Depending on how long a break you've been on, no serious changes since 0.8 that I've noticed.

- Didn't meet any cheaters myself. Playing mostly Shoreline, 5+ hours/day.

- bugs still exist. Reporting them properly does help to make game better.

- desync highly depends on servers. I'm playing on the nearest SPB server with 1ms ping and rarely meet any desync. Other servers could be a nightmare for me, for no visible reason.

- Tarkov did get better optimised, but it's still a long way to go.

-Is it still infested with hackers?  Yes, even after they banned over 1,000 from a single cheat provider.  But, they were not as obvious about it.  Still plenty of ESP users and people cheating on the DL.

-are glitches still a major issue?  Some were fixed.  Some were fixed and worked around again.  Still plenty of years old ones.  A few new ones.

-desync got any better?  For some people yes.  For some people no.  See below.

-did the game get optimised better yet?  Well, sort of.  They "optimized" the game by just making it not render important things like trees, bushes, grass.  They optimized it by removing a lot of "junk" from one person's view but not another's.  So, when you think you are hiding in a bush, under a tree, on someone else's screen you are just prone in an open field easy pickings.

See above.

Their banwave didn't do anything, they had a sale right after the banwave....

Both of the most popular cheats for Tarkov are back online & are undetected as far as we know. With that said I havent run into any cheater yet (that I know of). The last update brought with it the banhammer of godly proportions so hopefully they're on top of the cheater issue.

There's desync & you can use it to your advantage - which kind of sucks since it's unfair/cheesy to everybody involved. It's a lot better than what it used to be however.

There's still glitches but I havent personally run into any abusers at all this wipe & I play a fair amount.

Optimizations are being done quite often and the next patch will focus on that along with QoL stuff.

still has LOTS of problems.

hoping .10 will fix the major stuff. I really think .10 is a make or break patch. If they can't resolve network and performance problems soon, it is going to have a hard time.

I remember seeing that and chuckled. Get the cheaters to buy a new account = profit after all. For now I'm done with tarkov.
