my take on scav mode

Hey everybody,

after playing eft for a couple of hundred hours I wanted to share my ideas when it comes to scav mode. Also I need some distraction from my actual work :). TL;DR at bottom.

Issue 1: scav on scav violence

As many players have stated before, scav on scav violence is and should be part of the game mechanic & is integral to the tarkov lore. Nonetheless scavs shooting other scavs on sight is often times frustrating and unsatisfying and most importantly hinders pvp vs. pmcs. -> IMHO the prevalence of scav on scav violence isn't contributing to a good gaming experience and therefore should be adressed (I know it's planned).

Issue 2: rejoining as scav

We probably all know the situation: Once you kill a geared player he/she locks back in as scav to get their gear back. Even though it makes for intense fights and hunt downs it takes away from the hardcore experience eft is because there is a chance to lock into the same server (and even big one if you know how to do it) to get your stuff back. -> I think you should not be able to get your gear back this way because it is not just a matter of luck who can and who can't get back into the same game: players that kill other players first are in disadvantage because the later they get killed by  the less chance they have on getting back into the same game.

Issue 3: grabing gear and leaving

Since scav players can't do any quests and are often attacked by other scavs they usually just leg it once they find some decent gear. Of course its a legit move but it doesn't promote an interesting gameplay like risking the newly acquired gear to kill some pmcs. -> In my opinion there should be more incentives to stay and use the gear as scav.

My suggestion:

Issue 1: scav on scav violence can be adressed with 'karma'. It's a bit complicated so bear with me, please.

I suggest that killing scavs lowers your pmc's reputation with Fence while killing pmcs as player scav raises it (the ratio doesn't have to be 1:1). "Nice idea but who buys at Fence?" you ask. To make your reputation with Fence meaningful I suggest another change that also solves issue 2 and 3:

Player scavs should only be able to transfer certain items into their stash like barter items, keys, food and containers like docs case, keybar, ammo box, pistol case. At the end of a successful raid as player scav and after transfering above mentioned items into your pmc's stash you should be prompted to sell the rest of you gear directly to ... you name it: Fence.

This way (at least until you guys proof me wrong) player scavs would reconsider killing other scavs because A) they would make less money and B) they couldn't secure the gear anyway. Looting would be still a nice way to make some cash (I mind you more rep with Fence would mean better prices) or to gather quest items. Once you find that pmc with fort/altyn/m4 as player scav you could either extract and make some nice cash or try to kill some pmcs, get more rep with Fence and possibly even more cash.

If you think that isn't incentive enough there could be a "headhunt" bonus for killing pmcs: depending on their level you could earn some extra Euros from Skier for killing USECS or extra Dollars from Peacekeeper for killing BEARS.

TL;DR: Fence reputation depends on killing scavs or pmcs as player scav. Reputation dictates prices. Player scavs cannot transfer most of their gear into pmc's stash but have to sell it directly to Fence after a successful raid. Extra cash for scav players if they kill pmcs.

So... what do you guys think?

(edit: spelling)

There is no reason to stop scav on scav violence. You get to go every 10minutes, free gear without consequences. Already you have less people trying to kill you than a pmc so you're safer on that regard as well (ai scavs are friendly).

Scavs are cutthroats so if you get shot in the back of the head, tough luck. Nothing lost, nothing gained.

ok then, it should be implemented that AI scavs can turn on you then. Not just pos player scavs. I actually try to work with scavs so we can take down pmcs and bears. Also a karma system is in the works.

Has anyone every actually managed to do number 2?

More that i'm interested to see if anyone managed to turn something like that around by going back in a finding there killer and hunting them down with half a vepr.

Scavs are unpredictable and desperate back stabbing and loot squabbles are all too common  "nice backpack -kappa" number 1

I kinda though number 3 was the point, Scavenging as a scav otherwise they should have called them killers and given them half a chance with the gear pool :P
