I don't get it

I've had this game maybe a month now and I've put in a little bit of playing time. It's just so hard being a new player as I'm sure you can imagine. I don't like to fight anyone at all because every time I try I just die. I don't get this game. I've beat a few quests and now I'm on one where I have to kill 13 PMC's which is gonna be difficult considering in the past few days I've seen barely any players in matches. When I do try to kill someone its pathetic. I can blast the poo out of them on fully auto with the level 1 AK from proper with the best armor pen ammo and they just double tap me. It's unreal. I understand the game has a big learning curve and this and that but it's really pushing me to the point every time I get destroyed to just not play anymore. Anyone have any friendly advice?

When you begin playing the game, learn the maps, the gear. Engage scavs carefully. Gradually over time you will have better gear and improved tactics to take on players. Do not focus on missions alone. Collect keys, loot.

But yes, the game is hard, it is supposed to be!

Understand all PMCs will have better armor and better ammo than you. You will never win a straight up firefight unless they make a mistake. That being said you can out play them, stalk and wait for that perfect headshot. But it is always a calculated risk.

Just play around them, focus on taking down scavs and learning the extractions/gathering keys.. By level 15 it will all start to come together.

For player kills if you dont mind bad Kill to Death Rating go to Factory. You will at least kill hatchlings easily there and probabbly get rekt by fullgear teams in between. If you take your time just continue playing the bigger maps with maybe 7.62 rifles like sks and vepr. Try to use a holo or dismantle the rear aiming thingy off your guns (for AKs). In reality you wouldnt be able to lign up the shot but in the game it is enough to have the front aiming thingy but with better view.

On the big maps play carefully, learn the hotspots and on what raid times the most players went where. I know it is harder with a new character this long after a wipe. I have the same problem with a wiped character. Armor helps a lot if someone sneaks up on you and give some respond time. Ofthen you maybe dont hit the enemys head. Always go for headshots on armored targets if you can. Dont forget the bullet drops a lot on distance and you maybe hit his armor instead of his head. You can test it with Tracer ammo. You can zero your scopes with page up and down buttons.

I felt the same way when I first started playing. It was kind of like an anxiety when I saw geared players and all I had was a vepr, It took me hatchling runs and scaving in to get over it. You slowly realize that even being out geared, you can still come out on top. I would die, lose everything, get discouraged, and at the time, stopped playing for about 3 months.

When I decided to reinstall and start playing again, something just "clicked" and the game felt right. Factory got me more into actual quick gunfights. I dont have the issue of running low on gear now, but when I did, Scaving into interchange I would rarely run into people, so i would take out a few scavs, and just extract, using the found gear on factory runs to build myself back up. Finding somebody to play with helps immensly. Check out the EFT unofficial discord, watch some streamers and also check out the BlackSite discord as well. They have a great community who is happy to help out newer players as well as older.

Be confident in doing nothing.

Being nervous will cause you to make mistakes and could cost you the fight.

The best tip I've ever given was to take your time aiming before you shoot.. even if the other guy is already shooting at you.

Take a knee, unless you're already being shot at. Once you bring your gun up, press your sprint button and your guy will hold his breath. Doing this makes your shot placement much better and easier!

Lastly, if you're having trouble aiming at heads, then turn down your sensitivity and slowly work it back up over a few days until you find your sweet spot. The ol' adage always works: "Two in the chest, face gets the rest."

Due to the way ammo is currently, you will not be that competitive until you get the traders to level 3 and 4, unless you trade for a box of BS rounds from prapor.

Therefore, I suggest you spray the legs and try your best to be the one that starts the fight to give you the biggest chance of success. Unfortunately Tarkov mid-wipe is quite crap, everyone is fully geared running around one tapping people with SA-58s and if they ain't doing that, they're using the b-e-a-utiful mosin.
