New player, wondering if I should keep playing, some thoughts

Here are some things I really like and hate.  I really want to like this game because there is some good stuff but the bad is just wanting me to uninstall after a week.  I've been watching a lot of youtube videos and twitch streamers learning the ropes and it's been pretty fun but without some serious changes I can't see myself playing this game.

Love:  The depth of all the guns and attachments.  It's overwhelming at first but it gets easier and much more fun to play around with.

Hate:  Armor/damage system is just awful, or seems that way.  Good armor is insanely good.  Good helmets seem like they're very hit and miss.  I killed some poor shlub PMC today who had his back turned to me, with a helmet, but a single pistol shot (the kind Skav's spawn with) from about 20 yards killed him instantly.  Then in another game I empty a 30 round AK magazine in someone, hit them something like 14 times according to my death screen in one particular case, but they're still dancing and running around and able to shoot back just fine.  I get the realism play here but it's just not fun at all.  I don't look forward to finally getting the upper hand on someone, pumping them full of lead and knowing I'm probably still going to die if they have decent armor and I don't land a head shot because they're behind a trash can and I can't see their legs.  IMO, higher tier armors should be incrementally better than lower tiers but not nearly as much as they seem to be today.  Maybe if nothing else, we need a new game mechanic where if players get hit with that 10th or 12th bullet, even if it hits only armor, they momentarily pass out and have very blurry vision, or their hands shake violently with adrenaline or something so their aim is all squirrely.  A baker's dozen hits on someone should virtually always ensure their demise, if it's actual fun you're after.  If it's a mil-sim whatever, but I can't see this game getting very big as it currently stands.

Love:  The atmosphere and graphics are excellent.

Hate:  The audio system sucks, it just straight up sucks, but just one part of it.  The directional component works well enough, but it's completely unaffected by walls so someone could be shooting from the top floor of Interchange and if i'm directly below in the parking garage then it sounds like they're pumping lead into my face.

Love:  Being able to play a Skav.  I wouldn't have played for this last week if I couldn't at least learn the ropes with free gear.

Hate:  The whole USEC/BEAR and SKAV faction thing isn't very fun (or complete, I know).  There's just too much tension in each game and it's unnecessary.  It really sucks that as a PMC I have to not only worry about getting insta-headshot out of the blue by a player at any given moment, but also worry constantly about running into some Skavs that turn and insta 1 shot me without any possibility of them being friendly and helpful.  I can handle Skav's ok now, but IMO it would be 1000x more fun if there were allied Skav factions, and maybe you could get allied to all of them so you can use them against other players strategically.  So there should be at least 2 SKAV factions, one allied or at least neutral to whatever faction you are at level 1.

To add one more thing:  It seems like EFT caters first and foremost to campers even though I think most of the player base doesn't want to camp.  But movement is highly punished, but sitting in one spot waiting for some poor sap to walk by is very much blessed.  As a new player my KDA is 1.25 but on night maps it's pretty close to 0. I can't think of anything more frustrating or any other part of the game that makes me hate it more than just flat out dying to an ambush instantly without any chance of fighting back.  Certainly I'll learn how to avoid traps, but just saying, as a new player this is absolutely making me dangle my mouse pointer over the uninstall button and wish I could get a refund, never-mind giving out word of mouth advertising.  I see streamers and vets die to random campers all the time too.

Idea:  You need to punish campers somehow if it possible in a realistic way. Make the AI seek out non-moving PMC's by casually causing them to route near their camp, or better yet just put players with relatively low km's traveled per game into a separate queue so campers have tons of fun playing with other campers.  Kidding, but no seriously do it.

Welcome to Tarkov.

If you like it stick with it bro, for real.  The bugs in this game are obvious to everyone but so is the fact this is an awesome gem of a game that just needs continuous polishing until someday it's done.  While it is still broke in so many ways It has come a LONG way (and I do mean a really long way lol!!!) since it was first released.  I have watched and experienced these changes myself for over a year now.  BSG and it's Dev's are not giving up.
There will always be loves and hates for the game even among the highest of supporters.

The sound is completely NOT directional and those of us who have played it for so long know it.  (While it is ALMOST possible to pinpoint the direction of danger after wasting to much time....no matter what direction you look the gun shots are always in front of you).  It is has been stated that BSG is re-working the sound from the ground up no ETA on that.

EfT, itself, does not cater to camping and camping is no fault of the devs.  It is, however, a sad tactic used by many.  I find this tactic is used more often than not by PMC's who are maxed out because they have nothing better to do after accomplishing everything the game has to offer (That IS partly the devs fault).  This will change down the road, however, as more content is added and more of the end game get's implemented.

To keep it simple, I do relate to your feelings as a new player although I had it way worse when I started 15 or so months ago!!!  My recommendation is to get your feet wet, put in as many hours as possible and even get on the EfT Discord so that you can join in with a team should you choose.  That way it may not feel as if you are always getting the a$$ end of the stick.  If your interested in the EfT Discord here is the forum link...

...Also, while it is a brand spanking new feature, perhaps you might find interest in requesting a Sherpa, whos' job it is to give you starting gear and show you the ropes, the "in's and out's" the "best routes" etc.  You can do this by logging into your BSG home page account and selecting the Sherpa button in the right hand column.

Good luck out there!
