So Tarkov has become a hide in a doorway  simulator? Wait for npc to pass head shot them take loot and leave raid. Humm not so tactical. Labs is boring already some really solid ideas and map layout is great. I just don't like this exploitation of door mechanics to kill all the raiders. Maybe I'm alone on this but I think I will stick to the other maps .I Don't care how many gazillion rubles you can make farming it.

Maybe if they would throw more nades through doorways..

but its like any other choke point really ... And thats how you kill people, by controlling the Area and on choke points that task is more doable.

Unfortunately, fighting the raiders straight up usually tends to end in death and people have a tendency to follow the path of least resistance. Although don't expect this to change until BSG realize they need to re-do scav behavior and AI and lets be honest, the AI is currently terrible and the only way BSG knows how to make them dangerous is by giving them some serious reaction time and aim.

I understand the theory. IMO the raiders should not engage so easily in doorways, and yes maybe nade the campers like a real player would.

You really gereallize this to much. The AI is one of the best i have ever seen in any Shooter. Sometimes it is hard to tell if i fight an pmc or scav. They have problems ok but comon. Just saying its broken and terrible is not the whole truth. People will always find was to outsmart AI. But they ruin it for themselfs most of the time. Noone forces pllayers to abuse glitches or errors in coding.

Really? I'm not trying to be rude but you've either played very few games or the games you have played have been lacking in quality...

The Scav AI isn't the worst I've ever seen in a game but it's still pretty bad, I mean all that's changed since I bought the alpha is small tweaks and they now lean around corners, but a good AI in a shooter doesn't get shot and then run straight towards the person shooting it. I would also like to add I didn't say they were broken, they're just terrible as they don't react in any understandable way, half the time they run away and then run back ignoring cover completely and just walking towards you like a robot. Edit: Or they see one of their men, dead, and just go "Eh it was like that earlier, I'm sure there's nothing to worry about"

Yes, you're correct people will find ways to outsmart the AI, the unfortunate truth is the AI is incredibly easy to outsmart and needs a rework. Hopefully BSG will decide to do it soon seeing as they plan on adding more AI enemies (Cult, UN, more raiders and bosses), they might also further reduce the lag that scavs create.

I'm also going to recommend you play some games,

  • FEAR
  • Half Life (Doesn't really matter which 1 or 2)
  • Hate to say it, any of the call of duties, although for the sake of best AI/Gameplay go no further than Black Ops 2
  • Metro 2033/Last Light
  • Wolfenstein RTCW or The New Order

Final word on the AI, they were fine for the alpha but when every other part of EFT is improving they should be included. At the very least give them some damn recoil or accuracy penalty to automatic fire BSG!

Well players outplay players too.. thats what youre supposed to do to survive. Its not exploiting If you choose to fight on choke points which you can take control of.

The raiders actually Rush through doors and they shoot insanely hard. Going on the open is suicide atm. IMO they need to reduce their aim accuracy a notch and maybe tweak the behaviour abit.. flash/nade room before entering and maybe not go towards shooting sounds rather be aware of the direction of action and not walk straight to their death.. i dont know. But I know its hard to get it right and make everyone happy. Ai tend to be stupid or insane Terminators..

I was watching a raid Pestily was doing yesterday, he was in a small room and was healing, the scav opened the door crouched in and shut the door and never shot one time and Pestily was stuck in his heal animation. Was pretty funny to watch. They should avoid door ways.

that s due to them having like a 40 degree field of vision and if you are not making sounds and not inside that cone then you don't exist as far as they care.

Which is kinda why doorways and the alt lean and sidestep messes them up so badly it seems they have real trouble actually dealing with anything more complex than an open area where they can easily swing the sight cone around to see everything hallways and tight in areas are not so easy for the a.I.s tend to line up parallel to the walls and follow it like a track never thinking to look around or inside a room before opening the door and walking past someone hiding there.

Someone on reddit put it best calling them "children with aimbots" which is true when you fight them in on there turf in the open and they can lock you down and just 0 recoil tap-tap-tap your head away or toss nades with a 4 second fuse and a  travel time just short of that so it airbusts at the level of your head.

But lead them into hallways and the smaller rooms they become much easier to deal with and they lose track of you after you leave there vision in about 4-10 seconds and will then be open to following any loud sounds they hear like you firing you gun they will then walk towards the sound (you being the smart person you are don't wait where you shot the gun but you wait lined up on the doorway the ai has to come though to "look for the mysterious sounds" and then you blitz them and they enter the room normally from an angle they won't be able to directly see you from until they are all the way inside to prevent them just destroying your face with a lucky shot or something as they go down.

They are an interesting new thing at least but right now they reak of "fake" hardness they aren't hard to deal with due to their tactics or due to any complex reasons, no its one pretty simple reason as to why the raiders are "hard" and that is that they take about a second to lock on and once locked on they hit with pretty much 99% accuracy and then they do it again and again for every round in the mag at the cyclic rate of the firearm. Take that one thing (and the nades but that is just part of the "targeting" stuff) away from them and they would be worse than the normal ai i think.
