Aerek
Do I get marked as a hostile if I shoot a player scav? I thought killing player scavs keeps you safe. I ended up shooting a player scav and all of factory gunned me down.
AdhesiveTeflon
Yes, all scavs in the area will be aggro'd to you.
Aerek
Ok, I did not know that thanks
Elder-Drake
Not sure if it is still the case but shooting a player scav that fires on you also flips the other scavs hostile, even if he clips you first with a round or two. Would be great if BSG registered a player scav that does damage to other scavs as fair game for all to shoot because if a scav shoots you for shooting another scav, are they not now also marked and then round and round the merry-go-round we go right?

I often play with player scavs and run around and shoot them in the legs and AI is not hostile to me. (Unless i kill those players). Whats more, it happened a lot of times after 11.7 where i killed hostile player scav (who was shooting other AI) and after i killed him, AI scavs didn't target me at all. Elder-Drake
Interesting as I get smoked whenever I shoot back at s hostile player sav. It is not often, nor has it been recent, so maybe it has changed or we're flukes but I was not the only one to have this happen.
DanExert
Recently a mechanic was introduced where player Scavs were able to defend themselves against other player Scavs IF the attacker fired (and hit) the first shot. In fact, the AI should actively defend you against a hostile player Scav if they are in range, and allow you to retaliate with no repercussions I’ve not seen anything in the patch notes saying this has been reverted, so should still be the case
ldtorroc
Here is the problem with the current system. YOU have to be HIT first. So even if you kill a player scav who is killing npc scavs they will turn on you.

But, @ldtorrochas a great point, it's only an option if you allow them to hit you first... Though, Scavs (and the game engine itself) of course cannot predict the future or read the other player's intent, so it's a tricky one to combat. If it were made so ANY Player Scav who attacks an AI Scav becomes 'fair game' it may work much more smoothly, as Scavs magically knowing who is AI and who is not is a little immersion breaking

So to say the least it seems they are still trying to tweak this
Oceans_Lights
It can get kind of annoying because you assume that if someone is going around trying to kill all the scavs, they are a PMC. I just got out of a game where anther player scav killed 4-5 normal scavs in the tunnels of factory, a few scavs were walking into the tunnel to track the guy down and I followed behind. The one in front of me got shot but I wasn't hit so I shot back and killed the player scav, but then the other NPC scav I was with one tapped me with a shotgun in the back. I know it's my fault for not knowing the games mechanics but still I felt a little bit cheated from a fight I won.
